I'm not going to Maui for a while yet but I wanted to read up on some of the activities and sort of get a sneak peek of the island before I went as I've never been there before. That being said, the book starts off with a lot of good and entertaining reading on the history and culture of Maui. Descriptions of the flora, fauna, foods etc...very informative and will make for good reading on the plane. Haven't read it thoroughly yet but it is laid out very well. Everything is categorized really well so easy to find your way through it. I've looked at other reviews for this book and they've all been very good as well. Recommended book for pre-reading and the actual trip. Oh...and the map it comes with is a nice little bonus too ;)

This is the only book you'll need for a trip to Maui.
Purchased this book for a 5 day trip to Maui. Frommer's does a great job of organizing their books, and this one is no exception.
Fantastic maps of the island and attractions- didn't even need my GPS. One section details potential itineraries based upon length of stay- found this to be very helpful identifying the must-see points of interest. Everything in the book was accurate and detailed, including information on local stores and vendors. Glossary in the back is key for quick-lookup of specific vendors/activities, and despite the length of the book, was easy to skim through and find what you are looking for.
One tip: After buying the book, would recommend exploring reservations, as some activities are so popular that although the book didn't indicate a reservation was needed, it definitely was due to popularity.

Bought this as a gift for honeymooners heading to Maui. Love that it came with a map (because I was considering buying them a map separately and now I don't have to), but this guidebook was well laid out & easy to follow, with updated information. Though I'm not going on the vacation, I sure wish I was & I would bring this book!

This guide takes out all of the work involved in searching all the the internet to figure out what to do.
The interesting thing is that even though this tells you a lot of information our plan is to stay at the beach and the pool and relax. But can't fault the book for that.
