Book Description

May 1 2012 Frommer's Complete Guides
  • Insider advice on exploring Nashville's vibrant downtown and lively historic district; squeezing the most Elvis into your Memphis visit; checking out the area's lesser-known attractions, including the evocative and moving National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis and the quirky Lane Motor Museum in Nashville; and getting beyond the tourist scene in both cities to experience the true charm and hospitality each has to offer.
  • Where to find the best barbecue in Memphis, from pulled pork to ribs (wet or dry).
  • Opinionated reviews. No bland descriptions and lukewarm recommendations. Our expert writers are passionate about their destinations--they tell it like it is in an engaging and helpful way.
  • Exact prices listed for every establishment and activity--no other guides offer such detailed, candid reviews of hotels and restaurants. We include the very best, but also emphasize moderately priced choices for real people.
  • User-friendly features including star ratings and special icons to point readers to great finds, excellent values, insider tips, best bets for kids, special moments, and overrated experiences.

This was useful for a quick trip and it's surprisingly the only tour book for Nashville.
Very concise and helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tone Issues July 30 2013
By JeriWB - Published on Amazon.com

Overall, this guide is as good as one would expect from a major source like Frommer's. However, there were a few instances where the author opening bashed how cheesy certain aspects of Graceland and other popular sites can come across to visitors. In general, when I buy a guide I look for the author to have a love of the place they are writing about, but at times the open distaste the author showed toward some sites was a bit off-putting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cut the Chase Nov. 24 2012
By Ocean View - Published on Amazon.com

This was a great guide to cut to the chase of what is worth seeing in Memphis. We only had a couple of days on the trip and this guide was our "bible" for planning our days to make sure we got the most bang for our buck while we were there. Has so much information and things that are off the beaten path that we would have never known about otherwise. Excellent resource -highly recommend!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nashville July 24 2013
By L. Giles - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I read this before making my first visit to Nashville, but upon arriving, found that I didn't really use it much. It's got your standard stuff -- hotels, restaurants, places of interest, but it was a bit more fun finding places on my own.

This book was perfect to plan our wonderful trip to Nashville. We did countless things while there and checked them off in the book as we went along.
