A sweet, magical film filled with great music, likable characters, and striking effects, Frozen is a fairy tale about overcoming obstacles and the power of true love. Princesses Anna and Elsa are sisters and the closest friends until one day Elsa discovers that she can no longer control her power to create ice and snow. Terrified for the safety of her sister and everyone around her, Elsa isolates herself and vows to never feel any sort of passionate emotion again in hopes of suppressing her powers. But when Elsa comes of age and is set to be crowned queen, she must open the gates of the palace and let in the public, not to mention her sister Anna. Things go horribly wrong and Anna pursues her sister into the mountains in an attempt to save Elsa and reverse the deep freeze that Elsa has inadvertently released on the kingdom of Arendelle. Along the way, Anna joins forces with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), an ice seller with a strangely close relationship with his reindeer Sven, and Olaf (Josh Gad), a goofy snowman whom she suddenly remembers from early childhood. In the end, Anna and Elsa discover that only by embracing their deepest feelings do they have a chance of saving themselves and the kingdom. Inspired by "The Snow Queen" story by Hans Christian Andersen, the film has plenty of quirky, lovable characters along with a nice blend of corny humor, serious sentiment, suspense, and peril. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel deliver rousing performances of great music that includes original songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and an original score by Christophe Beck, and the visual effects are simply stunning. Frozen definitely succeeds in captivating audiences young, old, and every age in between. --Tami Horiuchi

Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

--------------

5.0 out of 5 stars back to what makes Disney great Dec 7 2013
By Sheilah HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER
Format:Blu-ray
This is a movie that goes back to what makes Disney awesome. Back to the era of movies like Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, and Aladdin. Back to the movies that make us all remember our childhood with delightful glee whenever we see a picture of these movies. This movie will do what these classics did to us as kids, to the new generation of kids.

This movie, not only has a great story, but finally brings back the musical numbers and scores that make Disney movies so iconic. The beginning of the movie had me worried that it wouldn't be that great, but after the first 5 minutes I was bouncing in my chair like a little kid as I watched it (of course, completely embarrassing my husband).

Beyond just the adult-child that I am, my friends kids (boy 3 and girl 5) also absolutely adored this movie, and haven't stopped talking about it since they saw it (it is therefore a great conversation piece for me and them).

Should you watch this? absolutely yes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disney Frozen Dec 23 2013
By MOM51
Format:DVD
Congratulations to Disney on a movie that has appeal to the little princesses, young boys who adore Olaf and including teenagers who enjoy Olaf,to the romantic relationships and music to the adults who thought the animation was stunning to the plot that was well developed with life lessons. It brings back what family is all about in a well developed movie. I have seen the movie twice and it was amazing to see how much you missed on the first time at the theatres. I know many who have seen the movie at least twice if not three or four times and would still like to go and watch it again and they say this is their new favourite Disney movie. Again, congratulations to Disney for doing such a great job and we can hardly wait for it to come out on DVD.

I almost didn't buy this version as someone else had said they had problems with the digital copy. I redeemed mine from my IPAD. Just make sure to set your country as Canada when you get to DigitalCopyPlus.com and you should have no problems getting your iTunes code.

Having the film in three different media form is great and I wish all movies came this way. We can watch the movie on the go on my iPad, or at home on our TV hooked up to the Apple TV, in our media room on blu ray and upstairs on DVD. Brilliant! We are a bilingual french/English household, and the only thing with the digital copy is you get either English or French, but even if I had purchased the movie on iTunes, it would have been in only one language or the other.

The film itself is great. The music is catchy, and the story line is heart warming. As adults, we enjoyed this film and, although it is done with modern animation techniques, it reminds me of classic Disney princess films. I believe that this movie is the best Disney movie to come out since Mulan or The Little Mermaid. If you have little girls, or you were a little girl, or if you like musicals, this is sure to be a hit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie, Mediocre Bonus Features March 22 2014

Format:Blu-ray
The movie is flawless, but the Blu-ray's bonus material was dissapointingly limited. The How we made Frozen short was really a waste of time. When you purchase this set, you're really just getting the movie.

Remember how the studios told us (when Blu-rays first came out) that the great thing about Blu-rays was the amount of space that a Blu-rays disc had, and because of this, that they could include oodles of extras that, due to the limited space of a DVD, they couldn't before?

Remember how we all fell for that (well, I actually didn't fall for it as much as hoped that it would be true, but deep down, I knew that the studios wouldn't follow through with it).

So here we are, years later, and what do we have to show for it, a greatly animated film (quite deserving of in-depth analysis) with the crappiest set of extras to ever (dis)grace a Blu-ray.

We are given a 3 minute, "Musical" number (and I use the word, "Musical", very lightly) that's suppose to tell us how the film was made, but instead comes off as an insanely bad, Oscar production type thing (with lots of fluffy, shiny crappieness, but with no real content or actual value to the viewer).

Then there's a 7 minute thing that briefly traces the history of, Hans Christian Anderson, his story, The Snow Queen, and Disney's slight attempt back in the day to do something small with it (not make it a feature film but to use it as part of a live action/animated feature about Andersen's life) with nothing behind-the-scenes of Frozen included.

Then there's 4 deleted scenes told through temp tracks and storyboards (which are probably the only real effort put into this disc).

Then there's a few video's for the amazing song, Let It Go, as done in different countries/languages.

And the trailer.

That's it.

This movie was so hyped up and almost everyone I know who had seen it said it was the best Disney movie they had ever seen. So finally, I had the chance to watch it over the weekend.

This movie was adorable and a lot more modern than other Disney animated films. It doesn’t follow the traditional stereotypes of other Princess tales. Overall, I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did. As I mentioned earlier, it was hyped up a lot and that can be dangerous. Going into movies with high expectations doesn’t usually turn out well for me. Frozen, however, was an exception. One thing that did bother me about the storyline though, was what happened with Anna & Elsa’s parents. Without giving to much away, I just wish the story provided more information about where they were going. In my opinion that whole scene happened a bit to quickly.

The music was cute and very catchy. I’m still walking around and singing in public, asking people if they want to build a snowman. The voices were great. I had heard Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel on Glee so I knew from the beginning that they would have some great performances. Kristin Bell & Josh Gad on the other hand surprised me as I didn’t know they were capable of singing that well.

Frozen is definitely a great family & kid friendly movie, but anyone of any age could watch it and enjoy it.
