I Love FUEGO!!! June 24 2014
By Mitzi2013 - Published on Amazon.com

Alas the first review was by a hater...one who does not believe that a band has the right to evolve...to polish their sound. Gone are the days of Rift and Pictures of Billy Breathing his last breath...Ok time to be serious...haters: Did you really expect Story of the Ghost or Lawn Boy 2??? I have not heard this band this happy or focused since 1998. Yes the Line and 555 have a bit of a pop feel and gloss to it but that should not detract from the fact that they are still GREAT songs and will be a major force during upcoming shows. The musicianship on this record is amazing plain and simple. I for one am glad to see the band stretching into more uncharted territory.

I so wanted to write my review after my first listen, I was that impressed. But I did not want to over react, so I have now got seven full listens in. This truly is very close to a five star album, if there ever was. I have been a fan since Junta, but have not liked any of their or Trey's studio albums for a very long time (since Billy Breathes). One has to give Bob Ezrin some major credit here as the production is simply outstanding and helps bring these songs to life in a major way! From the opening jam workout on the title track, to the cool influenced Steely Dan vibe of The Line (do not blow this song off if you find to pop sounding as it really grows on you). I also love the way they let the old school Grateful Dead hop up on their horses and take one hell of a ride on Devotion To A Dream (what a cool jam on this one) and the incredible Wingsuit that closes the album (check the Ezrin influence on the jam towards the end, remember he produced The Wall along with Waters/Gilmour), this really finds Phish in a fantastic place musically! The interplay between each and every member shines though out! I have read some find the song Wombat is a questionable add, but the lyrics about the Fish TV show with Abe Vigoda are pretty amusing and the song barely clocks in at over 3 minutes, plus placed towards the end. Of course two of my favorites will always be Junta and Lawn Boy, but if some of the die hard Phish fans can't see through the Marley smoke, they are truly missing one of the best things this band has ever created! Updated after a few more listens and this is really one bad ass album!!!!! So I have now gotten the vinyl (virgin/orange) and if you are a fan of this format, you will be blown away by the sound quality (the CD version does not even come close)! One of the best sounding vinyl albums I have ever heard, simply breath taking!!!!!

Woot! Phish load up the 1980's Renault Fuego with some great new tunes June 24 2014

Reviewing a Phish studio album is kinda tricky work as the band is known for its live shows and devoted fan base who loves the live show experience. Also the band doesnt churn out alot of new albums very regularly...its been 5 years since "Joy" dropped.

This album is great! I just listened to it for the first time straight through and am about to start over...that in itself is a big compliment....the album is filled with great tunes. Some upbeat. Some mellow. Some introspective. Some goofy. The production and sound quality are outstanding and crisp. It feels like the band really worked together to produce a great new album. I will be listening to this alot.

They seem to be having fun again! June 25 2014
By Michael Leahy - Published on Amazon.com

I do love this album and some of the songs on it. What strikes me the most is that it sounds like they had a lot of fun on this one. Seems like it was becoming a job and not a passion over the last three albums. This one rejuvenates the old Phish in brand new form. I for one am a huge fan.

Good . . . maybe another star to come ? June 27 2014
By Halo - Published on Amazon.com

Longtime Phish fan here . . . I mean phan. Anyway, I like this album. I will echo some sentiments from other reviewers and that is it's nice to listen to a Phish album and get the feeling that the guys are having fun playing music together again. So far this is probably my favorite thing about Fuego. I don't think this is a fantastic or amazing album but it is good as well as a joy to listen to. Perhaps after some more play it will earn another star from me. Don't hesitate to buy if your already a fan . . . I mean phan.
