The Finepix AV230 has many modes: Scene Recognition Auto, Auto, Program AE, Natural Light, Portrait, Baby, Smile & Shoot, Landscape, Motion Panorama, Sport, Night, Night(Tripod), Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Party(Indoor), Flower, and Text(clearer photos of text). The first three modes don't take nearly as nice photos as if you select the proper mode yourself. You can adjust the white balance only with Program AE, Auto, and Panoramic modes. The sound quality is pretty good. Could be better, but it is satisfactory for a point and shoot camera. The batteries last longer than with my other camera but I recommend using rechargeable batteries. I got this camera for $50-$60 as a special buy last October(2012) at a pharmacy and I am happy with it.

I would prefer if it had 1080p video capability rather than 720p but it still makes excellent, high quality videos. One of my issues with it is that indoor videos are a bit grainy if there isn't enough ambient light. Especially at night. But that is really pretty much the case for most cameras anyway. But any video taken during the day, whether indoor or out is excellent if there is good lighting. My second issue is that I make and sell jewellery and take my own photos. The photos have to be extremely close-up.
