I did a lot of homework searching for a scanner and was SO impressed when I tried out the Snapscan 1500M. This thing rocks the house. It's small, FAST (40 ppm duplex scanning), flexible for paper size. The snapscan manager software is very good (takes about 20-30 seconds to load it up automatically at startup). The FineReader OCR software is amazing. Scanning to searchable PDF is great and if you scan to MS Word, it's about 95% accurate, and it ALSO is smart enough to keep the formatting (columns, superscript, etc) and even subtle things like change in bolding of font. It blew me away. For the price, if you need higher-volume scanning get a dedicated scanner. I think you'd be disappointed with an MFP.
