Dee Henderson Is Back!

Ann Silver is a cop's cop. As the Midwest Homicide Investigator, she is called in to help local law enforcement on the worst of cases, looking for answers to murder. Hers is one of the region's most trusted investigative positions.

Paul Falcon is the FBI's top murder cop in the Midwest. If the victim carried a federal badge or had a security clearance, odds are good Paul and his team see the case file or work the murder.

Their lives intersect when Ann arrives to pass a case off her desk and onto his. A car wreck and a suspicious death offer a lead on a hired shooter he is tracking. Paul isn't expecting to meet someone, the kind that goes on the personal side of the ledger, but Ann Silver has his attention.

The better he gets to know her, the more Paul realizes her job barely scratches the surface of who she is. She knows spies and soldiers and U.S. Marshals, and has written books about them. She is friends with the former Vice President. People with good reason to be cautious about who they let into their lives deeply trust her. Paul wonders just what secrets Ann is keeping, until she shows him the John Doe Killer case file, and he starts to realize just who this lady he is falling in love with really is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating and enjoyable May 26 2013

Having enjoyed Dee Henderson's O'Malley series, I was not disappointed with "Full Disclosure". She brings in many of the O'Malley characters in this novel. Tied it all together nicely. It has been a captivating and enjoyable read. Interesting character development in the two main characters, Paul and Ann, and a very intriguing plot. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done Ms. Henderson.

I only got about 2/5ths of the way through the book. I loved her O'Malley series but this book is dragging. I actually switched to a different book and never finished it. I didn't particularly like the way the author is sort of writing about herself. Although I want to know "who did it?" I have no desire to wade my way through the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little too long, but still worthwhile Jan 17 2013

I was delighted to receive a copy of Dee Henderson’s newest novel, Full Disclosure, to review, and was not disappointed. It is definitely not in the same style as the ones I’ve read previously, and this fact is what made the book more interesting for me. Dee includes characters from the O’Malley series, which I have not read, but this does not hinder the story from standing on it’s own, nor does one need to have read the former series to enjoy this book..

Ann Silver and Paul Falcon are more mature characters, in their late thirties, and quite career-oriented, each with their own different mind-set that single, older people have, who have never been married. They meet each other in the course of their respective jobs in law enforcement, and Dee Henderson does what she does best ~ tells a story that draws the reader into the world of FBI intrigue, and murder-for-hire drama, along with a sweet love story.

The romance that develops a little more slowly for Ann, than it does for Paul, just adds to the interest of the tale for these ‘late bloomers in the love department’. I did find the character of Ann to be a woman a little too perfect in the eyes of her friends, and too gifted as far as talents and abilities. She was also more selfish than I would expect of a Christian woman, who claims to have a deep love, and an intimate relationship with God, as described in her daily quiet times, and frequent talks with Him. This makes for an interesting dynamic, where the hero has to work harder to woo her because of her need and demand for solitude, and other insecurities, but does not seem to make sense with the level of spiritual maturity she claims to have. However, she has suffered terribly from some difficult experiences in her life, and also witnessed horrific murders throughout her career, which facts I’m sure, allowed for her fears of commitment, and other character flaws.

Paul’s character was equally interesting, but his character suited his profession/ and vice versa. He is a wealthy man, and the heir-apparent of a family dynasty, but loves his work with the FBI and finds himself at a place in time, where he wants and needs to be married, and is intent on finding that ‘someone special’ to marry. When Ann is introduced to him, he is ready and willing to pursue this wonderful woman, but has no idea the challenge he is facing with this dynamic lady, Ann Silver. As he falls in love with Ann, he realizes that love is easy for him, but not so easily returned. Hence, the chase is on, and he faces an up-hill battle like no other, to woo and win his beloved Ann.

The cold cases of thirty murders are the other focus of Paul’s, and he pursues the unknown murderer with equal vitality and passion. The intrigue and suspense that have been characteristic of Dee Henderson’s other books, are expertly woven into this story, however, the intermittent sideline developments surrounding all the characters, tend to slow down the storyline a bit, but patience is rewarded when the reader arrives at the second half of the book, where all the paths begin to merge, and the greater picture becomes clear.

I was pleased with the ending, and would recommend this book to all who love or who have never read Dee Henderson’s works. She has changed her style, and that of the central characters from her previous books, but it is still delightful and a great read. {this book was read & reviewed by my mom}.
