"I have known Scotty Bowers for the better part of a century. I'm so pleased that he has finally decided to tell his story to the world. His startling memoir includes great figures like Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. Scotty doesn't lie-the stars sometimes do--and he knows "everybody.""--Gore Vidal "A picaresque romp that unabashedly uncover long-hidden sexual scandals during Hollywood's golden years."--John Rechy, author of "City of Night" "Scotty Bowers's memoir is a jaw-dropping firsthand account of closeted life in Hollywood during the '40s and '50s. The wholesome image of the post-war American family was acted, written, directed and designed by people for whom such a life was never possible and Bowers writes about their pain and brilliance with the childlike wonder of Chauncey Gardiner. Turner Classic Movies will never quite look the same."-Griffin Dunne, Actor/Director "They said he'd never talk--but at long last, the legendary Scotty Bowers has told his

Product Description

Newly discharged from the Marines after World War II, Scotty Bowers arrived in Hollywood in 1946. Young, charismatic, and strikingly handsome, he quickly caught the eye of many of the town’s stars and starlets. He began sleeping with some himself, and connecting others with his coterie of young, attractive, and sexually free-spirited friends. His own lovers included Edith Piaf, Spencer Tracy, Vivien Leigh, Cary Grant, and the abdicated King of England Edward VIII, and he arranged tricks or otherwise crossed paths with Tennessee Williams, Charles Laughton, Vincent Price, Katharine Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Errol Flynn, Gloria Swanson, Noël Coward, Mae West, James Dean, Rock Hudson and J. Edgar Hoover, to name but a few.

Full Service is not only a fascinating chronicle of Hollywood’s sexual underground, but also exposes the hypocrisy of the major studios, who used actors to propagate a myth of a conformist, sexually innocent America knowing full well that their stars’ personal lives differed dramatically from this family-friendly mold. As revelation-filled as Hollywood Babylon, Full Service provides a lost chapter in the history of the sexual revolution and is a testament to a man who provided sex, support, and affection to countless people.

not sure why I ordered this, but have found 2 typos and I'm only at Page 48; was the other person involved not editing this?Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Lives of the Stars he could at least have spelled Katharine Hepburn's name correctly, and if he's claiming some sort of friendship with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, he should know that he was never called "Eddie", his name was David ... not sure if I'll go much further - and how true is it?

The most disturbing thing about this book is that the author chronicles many instances of his being molested as a child as young as 8 by neighbors and priests, and paints it all in a positive light, as if child molestation was just good, clean fun. He also makes no connection between a childhood of being used as a sex object by a multitude of adults, and his later hypersexuality and pansexuality.

This ties in neatly with Scotty Bowers' book Full Service, wherein is recounted a lifetime of enthusiastic prostitution that began at 10 years of age. Bowers and Vidal were friends for decades and Bowers may have been Vidal's role model for the concept of fluent bisexuality. Not only did Vidal provide a laudatory quote for the cover of Full Service, but the launch party on February 8, 2012 was the very last public appearance that the dying Vidal could muster the strength to make. Teeman has a near perfect description of Full Service in In Bed with Gore Vidal that is as good, or better, than any review I could create after gleefully diving into Full Service's salacious and delicious pages:

Naughty tell all of a gas station attendant who became intimate with many of the gay/bisexual male superstars in the Movie Industry of the days gone by. Writing style is hilarious and goofy and the stories will make your head spin. Who knew who was sleeping with who? And who knew all those leading men were busy leading men in to their bedrooms for all night male on male adventures. Enjoyable romp in the sack with the men of the Silver Screen.

I am not entirely convinced that everything Scotty Bowers claims is true. It is quite graphic, so be forewarned and prepared--this is not a jaunty little tale of who slept with whom. If the claims in this story are true, then Hollywood was a pansexual playground--and the movies it produced had nothing in common with the stories it created--neither on screen or around the lives of its stars.

Fantastic read of Hollywood stars and their private sexual lives. Also a very honest portrait of a refreshingly honest full sexual services guy!
