The serious moments are balanced against broad comedy: Al finds himself reduced to the status of baggage; Ed remains as hot-tempered as ever. While the Elric brothers struggle through their adventures, the mysterious figures of Lust, Envy, and Gluttony remain in the background, trying to control events.
