This review is from: Fun with Dick and Jane (DVD)
FUN WITH DICK AND JANE came to a movie house near you
to bring Jane back from Hanoi with a little bit of sugar
to make the medicine slip down. Despite her vocal tension,
la Fonda handles pregnant comedy with George Segal
as well as heavy drama, as he did with Goldie
of the next generation. This farce foreshadows
ENRON like THE CHINA SYNDROME anticipated Three Mile Island.
Dick and Jane are typical Middle 'Muricans living deep into
next year's credit when loss of his job puts them down
a burleque slide to LIFE STINKS. Until they decide that
survival is the basis of morality. So they go into the growth
business of armed robbery like the flip side of POLICE ACADEMY.
Every fan will have a favourite screw-up, but the most telling
and foretelling caper is their robbery of the telephone company.
All the frustrated customers come on side with them like a rally
for OCCUPY WALL STREET.
No more BARBARELLA. Jane comes back a warrior for her causes.
Besides, she needed money until she hooked up with Ted Turner.
Way to go, Jane! You show us how to mature beautifully
with the usual trials and tribulations, au naturel.
The remake with Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni is consistently
funnier without the insight, farsight, and oversight.

Columbia Home Vid Forgot the DELETED Scenes!!!, Jun 21 2003
By A Customer
I loved this movie ever since i saw it when i was a kid.
Two additional scenes were added to the broadcast television premiere on ABC. One that stands out is a scene with Jane (Fonda) getting a job behind a cosmetics counter and having to confront a very difficult obese older female customer. This was a very funny scene that seems to now be lost and Is NOT going to be included in the new DVD release.
I didn't have a VCR at the time to timecapsule this extended version, It never was again! I hoped that it would make it's way onto DVD.
Columbia why do this!!!!! that scene as I rembember it was one of the best scenes in the film and made it even more enjoying. Unhappy fan :(
