The Seventh Canadian Edition continues the tradition of excellence that has earned Fundamentals of Corporate Finance its status as market leader. Every chapter has been updated to provide the most current examples that reflect Corporate Finance in today's world. This best-selling text is written with one strongly held principle: that corporate finance should be developed and taught in terms of a few integrated, powerful ideas. As such, there are three basic themes that are the central focus of the book:
1) An emphasis on intuition - Underlying ideas are discussed in general terms and then by way of examples that illustrate in more concrete terms how a financial manager might proceed in a given situation.
2) A unified valuation approach - Net Present Value is treated as the basic concept underlying corporate finance. Every subject covered is firmly rooted in valuation, and care is taken to explain how particular decisions have valuation effects.
3) A managerial focus - Ross Fundamentals of Corporate Finance emphasizes the role of the financial manager as decision maker, and stresses the need for managerial input and judgement.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS BOOK!, even if your class textbook is different!, Mar 5 2011
This review is from: Fundamentals of Corporate Finance, Seventh Cdn Edition w/ Connect Access Card (Hardcover)
I'm an accounting student at a college here in Toronto. (Name of college withheld to protect the innocent and the guilty. :)

The textbook that they use to teach Finance is Foundations of Financial Management 8th Cdn. Edition and it lacks a lot of what Fundamentals of Corporate Finance 7th Cdn. Edition offers. The former was very difficult for me to learn finance from but we have to use it in our Finance class. I searched for another book in the hopes of learning Finance easier and Fundamentals of Corporate Finance helped me out bigtime. It starts with the basics and explains the concepts very well with regard to Financial Management. The problems at the end of the chapters also have solutions in the book. The chapters do a great job of illustrating and stepping through excellent examples that prepare you to answer the problems. If you can afford it and you want a good book that delivers and will serve as a good reference and learning guide, you want to buy this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Financial Textbook, Mar 27 2012

I've been a distance student for some time, and to me textbooks are all important since they are half of our course materials, and without a teacher they better be good. This one is decent. It explains some concepts very well, and others are much more confusing. For time value of money problems a business math textbook is far easier to understand, and some chapters don't explain rather complex concepts in enough detail. It's not the worst textbook I've ever used, but is not the best either. If you use it for distance learning, be prepared for purchasing the answer key, or googling supplemental materials for clarification. Covers an astounding amount of content though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Review, Jan 1 2012
This review is from: Fundamentals of Corporate Finance, Seventh Cdn Edition w/ Connect Access Card (Hardcover)
Book was in good condition, brand new and all was good. Buttttt!!!!!!!!!!, the book did not come with "lyryx" online labs which I had to purchase for another $50, $60 so at the end of the day I was worse off buying online.

If your prof or instructor uses lyryx as part of the course evaluation, you must make sure you buy the one with lyryx If its worth buying online anyway.
