Jeremy Sonnenburg and his soon-to-be bride Dorothy decide that an extended honeymoon traveling around the world sounds great. So, after saving lots of money and Marriott award points, they marry and embark on their travels. As the title alludes, the road less traveled sometimes comes with a price and Jeremy seems to have paid a number of them. His experiences range from riding on a motorcycle in the pitch dark and pouring rain in a country where he doesn't speak the language to trying to learn how to sailboard.The book is broken into several chapters, each of them a separate story and adventure from their travels. In the Introduction, Sonnenburg even retells the hilarious story of how hard he had to work to get some time alone with his future father-in-law to ask if he could marry his daughter. Nothing seems to come easy to Jeremy. The image Sonnenburg paints of their arrival at the Marriott in Rio de Janiero, Brazil was great. I could clearly imagine this ragtag, bedraggled couple showing up in a gorgeous lobby and being told there was no vacancy. It must have been immensely satisfying to slap their Marriott VISA card on the counter and wait for their suite key. Hah! This book with it's separate stories is entertaining in small doses. In a sick way, it's great to laugh at someone else's mishaps, some of which sound amazingly like your own. However, I did seem to get jaded about the adventures or mis-adventures if I read a number of stories at once. This book appears to be perfect "Bathroom Reading!"
