In 1982, DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) released Für Immer, their third album in the space of a year and half, then promptly split up when it tanked. But despite its meteoric career, the Düsseldorf twosome left its mark, creating bare-bones, pulsing electronic music that delighted in both stiff dance-floor experimentation and homoerotic tease. Though the album is overall moodier than the previous two, it still has its share of lighthearted numbers, such as a rerecording of the band's first single, "Kebabträume" (initially issued when DAF still used guitars), or "Prinzessin," which comes dangerously close to a love song--or at least what passed for a love song in 1982 Düsseldorf. Not as brilliantly innovative as Kraftwerk, DAF nonetheless remains a fascinating black jewel of a band. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

maybe DAF's best work and culmination of their project

This can be considered as the 3rd part of the duo's trilogy and maybe their best one; 'Für immer''s title is not casual, and puts a full stop of a band which if not brilliantly, efficiently put the bases for what was to come with bans such as F242, The Klinik or Dive. Almost every song is good on this album, but I'd claim that 'Kebabtraume', 'Prinzessin' or 'Die götter sind weiss' are remarkable examples of what this band implied. They're not as brilliant as Front 242, that's true, but they did know what way the dark side of electronic music would follow, together with F242 or early Die Krupps; I recommend the whole trilogy as all 3 works complement each other and could have perfectly been a triple album; but if you have not listened to this band and want to do it, I would choose this one; DAF will remain in my heart and mind forever.

WHEN I FIRST LISTENED TO D.A.F ,I WAS 17 . THEY ARE VERY CRAZY . I THINK THIS IS NOT A ENOUGH DEFINITION FOR THIS GROUP. THEY HAVE GOT "A STRATEGIE AGAINST MUSIC" LIKE THE OTHER GERMAN BAND EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN."D.A.F" GIVES ME ALWAYS AN POSITIVE ENERGY , WHEN IM SAD,TIRED OR BORED. TRY TO LISTEN THIS ALBUM , BEFORE GO TO SCHOOL OR WORK. YOU ARE GONNA THANK TO ME.
