This is a pretty funny show, that I didn't start watching until it was on for some time. The first season had some great moments. If you like the simpsons you will probably like this, if you are a sci-fi fan you may even like it more. Personally I find it's not quite as good but every episode tends to have it's moment.

My biggest complaint though is the lack of anything cool on the DVDs. A couple deleted scenes for a few of the epidodes and thats about it. It also lacks the very useful Play All option. You need to select each episode then hit play each time then back out when done, really just an annoyance, but the Play all is pretty prevalent now a days.

I saw on the discussion boards, people were wondering whether the volume 1-4 set was different from buying the seasons 1 through 4 packages separately. I just received my 1-4 set and I can say for sure it is exactly the same as buying separately. This is not one boxed set, it is the 4 individual volumes shrinkwrapped together. This is not a bad thing! This is a whole lot of goodness! But if it's cheaper to buy them separately (and it is right now, as I write this), due to the weird fluctuations in the prices caused by sunspots, astrological alignments and black helicopters no doubt, the feel free to buy separately, you won't miss out on anything.

Another question plaguing the minds of today's young people: How come IMDB.com, epguides.com and GotFuturama.com (among others) say there are 5 seasons, but this set is four "volumes"? I dunno, but I can now say for sure, the 4 volumes contain ALL the episodes including "season 5", all 72 of 'em, plus a lot of extra goodies like commentary tracks. If you were holding back, I say go ahead and dive in, you have nothing to fear but cramps in your smile muscles and ribs from prolonged laughing.

I thought it was illegal to be that funny on TV.

This is not a review, per se, though I highly recommend the set. Rather, I just wanted to point out that you get 72 episodes (with a total of 74 commentaries!), not just 61, as amazon incorrectly states above. [Note: amazon has subsequently corrected their listing.]

This is truly an amazing show. The writing is perfect full of laughs, pop culture references, and even references to little known science fiction show and books. The characters are perfect, bender being the best. The romance between fry and Leela is heartbreaking. The show also looks amazing seemlessly blending in 3d animation with 2d for spectacular effects. But enough about the show.

Aside from the show the special features on these sets are great. The deleted seens are great, the 3 and 4 sets have how to draw segments, but the commentaries are reason alone to buy this set. Even if you have seen every single episode i would recommend this set for the commentaries alone. David Cohen is a lovable geek, Billy West (voice of Fry, Zoidberg and the Proffesor) and John Dimaggio (voice of Bender) are hilarious and so is the rest of the cast.

So in short BUY THESE DVDS
