5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Cartoon Comes Back Again Jun 23 2010
By Rich(Trolls Must Perish!) - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm glad I was able to finally get the second season of this wonderful series and while many kids today probably would never believe it this cartoon series was a lot more popular than many high hitting t.v. shows in the 80's. Many of the stories and situations they would do in the episodes will of of course not make much sense to kids today like the Soviet Unions G.I. Joe version team which had a serious dislike for each other since the U.S.S.R has been gone for about two decades and other smaller things that were going on in the early 80's, The video and audio for this set was very good considering the condition the originals were probably in and the added extras are a nice touch as well. This box set also pretty much ends the turn of the series as well as the movie that came out saw the end of the 80's series run pretty much, yes I know they have made a few new shows of this but none of those will ever match the entertainment and quality of the 80's original series. Sadly this set will be the last episodes of the beloved 80's version of G.I.Joe as after episode 95 they made the G.I.Joe movie that would showcase the last time the voice cast would do their character roles, of course there was an attempt to restart the series in the 90's with just the actor who did the voice for Cobra Commander Chris Latta but that didn't really take with the fans of the beloved 80's version. And while there have been newer versions of this beloved series I like I'm sure many other fans of the original series have never really bothered to look at these newer attempts at remaking a great earlier version, So for the kids of the 80's here's a great box set that has finally come out for us to enjoy....

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Memories from My Childhood. Mar 20 2010

I am so excited that GI Joe is on DVD & have added it to the list of DVDs I have purchased of cartoons from my childhood! The 1980s was the best decade to be a kid in!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first season. Sep 12 2012
By Dominic - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
I totally understand the glowing nostalgic reviews on here, but I just finished watching the second season, and it's just ok. It's not bad, but it just isn't as good as the first season. With the exception of the introduction of Serpentor early on in the classic "Arise Serpentor, Arise" multi-episode saga, there isn't that much interesting going on and it seems even more like a toy commercial for series 5 of the toy line. Cobra Commander is marginalized by Serpentor, and the Cobra ranks are sort of in disorder, which for me kind of diluted their badness rather than adding to it. There are some pretty 'out there' episodes that are worth watching just for their sheer weirdness though. This is when a lot of kids started watching other shows back then. I'm glad I saw it but I wouldn't watch it all again.
