"Gad's Hall" by Norah Lofts is a very enjoyable read. The book is in two parts, the first a wife with young children begins to fear her new house has something evil lurking within. We then go back in time over a century before, to see how evil came to exist in the house. All in all, very enjoyable. The first part is good with slightly sinister things happening in the house that are all too easy to dismiss. The book is not over the top, like so many "haunted" stories presented today. The second part of the book is just as good, with a widow worrying about the future and what will happen to her children, how they will manage. A very good read, and highly recommended.
