I use this adapter on my home-office PC in the house as it is way too far from my router.
Though it's okay for normal web-surfing, during intense downloads it constantly drops connection and does not reconnect back, though it should.
I have to constantly disconnect and reconnect manually, sometimes every minute. This irritated me so much that I even bought a foot-long +12 db omnidirectional antenna-booster and attached it to the adapter. Tiny bit better, but not a huge leap in performance.
I guess, one day I will have to just drill all my walls across the house and lay down LAN cable straight from the router.

Within a week of use, the plastic casing for the USB body fell apart, wireless range didn't change much from my laptop's built in wireless receiver but it would work good for a desktop

I bought this product in July 2013, and about a month after receiving it started to give me problems.

First off, the card uses strictly it's own drivers. These provide absolutely no benefit to the average user. In order for a network and password to be remembered, it must be manually set up in the 3rd party driver software.

About a month after I started using it it began to crash regularly. On average twice a week, though sometimes multiple times in a day. Whenever it does, it has overheated and cannot connect to any network. It becomes hot to the touch. When it does crash, it will continue crashing until it has cooled down again. This often means I need to disable or unplug it for 15-20 minutes. People complain when their web page loads a few seconds too slow, 15 minutes is a long time.

Do not buy this product. Save yourself the trouble and spend a few extra dollars on a product made by a more reliable brand. I'm sick of Realtek products.

It works well, picks up signals from quite a distance - 300 feet or so - but the connector is so long that it will not fit behind a desktop computer. That is the only complaint I have.

i did my research on the chip-set this thing uses and was intrigued so i just received it this morning and am currently running a series of tests..bought this because i was curious.....so far it is performing above expectations...seems to be cheaply made...did a minor mode of putting a heat-sink on the chip...i did the same with my alpha adapter with excellent results...heat is usually the cause of an early death...so far so good...i will update my review if anything happens

This was exactly the solution to the problem I was having getting my refurb desktop to connect to the wifi (which is in the basement and quite far from my computer). The wireless card wasnt picking it up, so I got this. Plugged in and working in under 10 minutes. Only complain is that it feels a little cheap and wobbly, but as long as it's something you're going to plug in and leave alone, it should be fine.

Bought this for a recent hackintosh build. The mac drivers supplied are outdated and not compatible with Lion. You can find updated ones on Realtek's site. It works, and reception is good. The device isn't recognized natively as a wireless card and you must use its kludgy utility app to connect to a network. Can't really complain for a USB wireless card of this price though.
