Product Description

From the Back Cover

Ted Kluck wants to love college football, but arrests, recruiting violations, brawls, and game days that look more like major donor cocktail parties than football games are making it difficult.

This book, which started as a series of interviews with college athletes, is a year inside his attempt to love the college game again. In it he encounters a Big Ten walk-on who is the son of Harvard graduates; a former Heisman Trophy winner working in the inner city of New Orleans; an All-American dealing with the loss of his brother; a running back who put the future of a program on his broad shoulders; the winningest quarterback in college football history; a linebacker who played in the Game of the Century; and a recruiter with ethics.

Game Time also bring readers face to face with coaches struggling to stay afloat, a draft guru, and a handicapper who eats, sleeps, and breathes college football, as well as providing an inside look at events like the Senior Bowl and NFL Pro Day, which make or break the futures of college players.

What started as a collection of interviews ended as a journey through many of the good people who still make their living in college football. It’s not an exhaustive history, nor is it a survey of college football’s biggest stars—but it just might help fans love the game again.

Good read about the college / NFL transition. The book is a series of short stories giving an inside look at player situation from first round draft picks to walk ons. Good easy reading for the college fan waiting for the season to start.
