2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy and hard to apply Aug. 19 2013

I mean, I knew what to expect; since when do companies ever care about quality when it comes to Nintendo brand name products? Kids are easy targets. Still, I wasn't about to pass up having Luigi on my Wii-mote. But man, this is so not worth it. Hori screen "protectors" have always been worthless, they cause more problems than they fix, so I just threw that thing out immeadiately. As for the rest of the kit, ugh. The Wii U cover comes in four seperate peices, which are all papery and flimsy as heck, and a complete pain to install. One mistake and you risk getting it permanently stuck to itself and/or ripping it, ruining the whole transaction right there. The Wii-mote covers are a tad easier to install, but still impossible to get on without creating bumbs and creases. The adhesiveness is also crap, as certain edges refuse to stick on properly, so you'll always be left with little bits hanging off, no matter how man times you press them down.

You can find far better quality covers on other reaches of the internet, such as DecalGirl or other companies that take care and pride in their work. But hey, I knew what to expect, and I paid for it. Giving it two stars because at least it really DOES look nice. Having the Mario Bros on my 'motes is pretty swank.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Little Package (Esp for those with younger siblings handling the GamePad) Jan. 4 2013

I'm one who usually hates altering products from how they are originally intended to look. I also never caught on to this whole "custom skins!" trend. However, my younger brother likes Mario a lot, and we needed a way to protect the gamepad when he is allowed to use it. I'm not gonna lie... I'm not a fan of the red color they chose (it's a little too dark) but overall, the gamepad seems a lot more "fun" to look at with the skins on.

Also, the screen protector that was included was easy to put on. Probably the easiest I have ever done. I only got one piece of dust caught under it, but it was easy to use tape to remove it. (Instructions for this can be found on the company's website.)

The only cons I can think of are: 1.) I don't know how the gamepad will look when we decide to remove the skin. It's supposed to be "safe" and officially licensed by Nintendo, so let's hope it doesn't leave any residue. (I would test this but the sticker skins are VERY sticky and a bit hard to pull up

2.) No instructions are included in the box. You must go online. (horiusa.com) This was easy enough for me, but I feel for the parents who don't have the time/patience/skills to help their kids apply these.

OVERALL, I highly recommend this product. I was reluctant to spend the $14 (w/ tax) but I am happy I chose this set for a screen protector because the skins are a nice little added bonus.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Happy With These Jan. 16 2014

I'm not sure why these are called "skins," they are more like stickers, and are a bit overpriced for what you get. The ones for the remotes go on easily enough, but I had a hard time applying the ones on the game pad. After a bit of trial and error, I figured out it is better to work from the middle portion out. The worst part of the set is the screen cover, it is "very" bubbly looking, after you put it on...lots of little air bubbles underneath that you can't get rid of. I am hoping this effect will diminish over time, as it adheres to the device. The only good things I can really say about the set is they are cute, once applied, and do help resolve the "fingerprints" issue a bit, that is often a problem with black units.

Update: I downgraded from 2 stars to 1, the bubble issue on the screen protector is the same, and the corner isn't adhering at all, so it will probably come off. Also the stickers ("skins") on the gamepad are starting to peel off as well. :(

These are just sticker, and very expensive stickers at that. Once on a controller though they look good. Give the controller some life if you know what I mean. As for the screen protector, it is very terrible. I didn't even bother to use it once I applied it on and saw all the air bubble. Usually once the screen come on, the air bubble disappear, because of the light, but not these. They linger staying there taunting you. So I just didn't bother with it. Other than that the sticker may seem cheap at first but once on the controllers, look pretty good. Just make sure your controller are not colored or you will have some work to do to make these stand out.
2.0 out of 5 stars Skin? Feb. 28 2014

This is the first time I have seen paper stickers referred to as skins. I returned this item with no hassle and received excellence service. I will now shop for gel skins and pay close attention to their description.
