if you want a great cook book without the over the top preparations that many call for look no farther.

the photos are excellent, the food is amazing. everything i have tried from this book and his show is simple and incredibly delicious.

also if you go to or live in Montreal go to his restaurant, it is wonderful. the food is heaven and the staff are gracious and easy going.

Reading Garde Manger was like spending time watching Chuck cook on TV. It didn't contain the reams of boringly manufactured anecdotes that are the rule in today's pointlessly sentimental cookbooks. It presented a genuine and heartfelt representation of the chef himself, and that's rare to feel. It's unpretentious and nice to look at with excellent recipes--really worth having.

Great recipe book. It's more heavily weighted to seafood but has quite a few excellent non-seafood recipes. Especially delicious is his "Staff Menu". And you can't go wrong with lobster rolls!!
