2 years ago, my husband and I bought our first home and since then I have had a desire to get out into the yard & do some gardening. However, as a total novice, I found myself getting VERY overwhelmed whenever I tried to do the smallest thing, or make the tiniest decision. Without just basic knowledge, I found myself overwhelmed to the point of being totally incapable of making decisions or really accomplishing anything at all outside. I had no idea what anything at the garden centre meant or was, and did not know where to begin. All I knew was that I wanted a "nice flower garden". This book was enormously helpful in teaching me important gardening basics (now I actually know what mulch is, and what is it for!) I am happy to report that I now have the foundational knowledge required to navigate the garden centre, make educated purchases, and problem solve in my own garden. I can even carry on a conversation about plants with my 90 year old gardening enthusiast neighbour and actually seem like I know what I am talking about!!
