2 More To Go!, April 23 2005

This review is from: Garfield and Friends: Volume Three (DVD)
Finally got Garfield & Friends Vol-3! Unfortunately I am stuck at work so won't get to start watching em till tomorrow. I don't think there was a better Cartoon Series. That was the only thing I looked forward to Saturday when I was younger. This will have episodes 49-72. We will still be expecting Vol 4 and 5 to complete all 121 episodes, but I have found no word on a timeframe.
My favorites on here are US Acres 'Over The Rainbow' with voice of Rod Roddy (price is right) announcing what is won for the Dirty Sock in the 'end of the rainbow' game. Garfield 'Jukebox Jon' where Jon has an interview to get a job and the boss states Jon is level-Headed and not a wierdo, then which Jon walks in speaking spanish and making funny sounds! Also 'Rodent Rampage', which has one of the best 'songs' from the Garfield toons, where Jon breaks into a song when he spots a mouse in the Kitchen "Garfield there's a mouse in the house" "Let Me Sleep!"
Another note, the next (and maybe final) Garfield 'Specials' DVD is also available for pre-order now, Called 'Garfield Fantasies'.

Another part of the fantastic garfield phenomenon, April 6 2005

Garfield and Friends IMO was one of the best saturday morning cartoon shows to ever air. It is great to see them being released on DVD and now with volume 3 there is even more joy. While I wish we could have commentary for these episodes and perhaps some extras (such as CBS saturday morning trailers and promos etc...) It is good to see that the U.S. Acres quickies have been added back to make the sets complete. Here's what to expect from volume 3 which has some great cartoons including DJ Jon, Squeak previews, and Mystery guest which always gets me laughing that even Jon can't figure out his own cat is the mystery guest on the farm. There's also quite a few here which I don't remember seeing on Toon Disney or remember much of either.:
Disc 1:
Odielocks and the Three Cats; Quack to the Future; Beddy Buy; Count Lasagna; Mystery Guest; Rodent Rampage; Feline Felon; The Legal Eagle; The Cactus Saga; DJ Jon; Cornfinger; Five Minute Warning; Wonderful World; The Orson Awards; The Garfield Workout; All Things Fat and Small; Robin Hog; Hare Replacement; Stick To It; Orson In Wonderland; For Cats Only; Mistakes Will Happen; The Well Dweller; The Wise Man.
Disc 2:
Star Struck; Election Daze; Dirty Business; Moo Cow Mutt; Big Bad Buddy Bird; Angel Puss; Trial & Erro; An Egg Citing Story; Supermarket Mania; The Legend of Cactus Jupiter; Birthday Boy Roy; Jukebox Jon; Squeak Previews; Dr Jekyll, Mr. Wade; A Tall Tale Frankenstein Feline; Weatherman Wade; Fill-in Feline; Polar Pussycat; Over the Rainbow; Remote Possibilities; Night of the Living Laundromat; Fast Food; Cash and Carry.
Disc 3:
Speed Trap, Flights of Fantasy; Castaway Cat; Mind Over Matter; Orson at the Bat; The Multiple-Choice; Galactic Gamesman Garfield; Sly Spy Guy; The Thing That Stayed; Bouncing Baby Blues; The Ugly Duckling; Learning Lessons; Robodie II; For Butter or Worse; Annoying Things; Guaranteed Trouble; Fan Clubbing; A Jarring Experience; The Idol of Id; Bedtime Story Blues; Mama Manicotti; The Pizza Patrol; The Son Also Rises; Rolling Romance.
I'm just waiting now for Picnic Panic and my collection will be complete. Keep them coming Fox!

GARFIELD OF DREAMS!!!, April 20 2005

This review is from: Garfield and Friends: Volume Three (DVD)
Volume three of Garfield and Friends is here continuing a great Fox effort at bringing out the entire run of the classic cartoon. You get 24 episodes of the TV show over 3 discs which includes some 70 tunes or so...if I counted right. This season was 1990 to 1991 and included some fantastic Garfield tunes as well as tunes from the rest of the cast such as Orson Pig, Wade Duck and all the rest.
Just a few of the classic episodes include:
"Count lasagna" in a story Jon writes, Garfield is Count lasagna who steals italian food from delivery guys.
"For Cats Only" Garfield hosts a TV show for cats only explaining their plan of infiltrating humanity and having humans wait on them hand and foot. Hilarious!
"Hare Replacement" Jon is doing a magic act and his rabbit escapes, forcing Jon to put Garfield in a bunny suit as a replacement.
"Moo Cow Mutt" Garfield convinces Odie he is really a cow and Odie starts acting like one but Jon turns the tables on Garfield.
"Squeak Previews" a Parody of the old Siskel and Ebert movie review show with two mice playing the part of the reviwers.
"Annoying Things" Garfield is warned by a dog not to say anything bad about dogs during his show. Nermal causes Garfield to mess up when he holds up a cue card saying dogs are annoying.
"The idol of Id" Jon, Odie, and Garfield visit a museum. When Garfield and Odie touch the same idol, their minds switch bodies!
Wow! How can you go wrong? Over eight hours of classic Garfield toons! Thank you fox for another great and great looking set. Oh..and there are trailers for the Garfield movie too!
