Product Description

Amazon.ca Product Description

GFLSUPRO Gary Fong Light Sphere Universal Pro Kit.The Light Sphere Universal Pro Kit consists of both the Cloud and Clear Diffusers, one Amber Dome, one Chrome Dome, one Accessory Universal Mounting Kit.

Product Description

The Lightsphere Universal Pro Kit includes: The Lightsphere Universal Cloud, Lightsphere Universal Half-Cloud, 2 x Inverted Domes, AmberDome and ChromeDome. The famous Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal fits almost any on-camera flash. The Cloud version produces slightly softer and warmer light which is ideal for portraiture such as weddings while the Half Cloud version produces slightly cooler light and is more powerful in terms of efficiency for Studio quality lighting with your on-camera flash without a bracket. When used in conjunction with the Lightsphere, the Amber Dome instantly warms your photos in cool lighting situations while maintaining the Lightsphere diffusion properties. When used in conjunction with the lightsphere, the Chrome Dome increases light output while maintaining the Lightsphere diffusion properties. The an open top allows non-diffused light to bounce from the ceiling. A chrome-plated kicker panel reflects light forward while the inverted dome blasts more light into the diffuser, brightening the bowl.

Good product, but no documentation Nov. 25 2009

Despite the picture on Amazon, there is no CD included - there is a note about documentation being updated and eco-friendly on a website. Unfortunately, the tutorials are hosted on YouTube and FaceBook and are unavailable to corporate users who typically live behind a firewall which blocks such things. It's unfortunate that not even a cheat-sheet paper is included. These seem to be semi-pro level products, but the support is not. For $159, they should still be including the CD.

Having said that, the parts are made well and fit well on the flash. The mounting is ingenious and works perfectly on my Olympus FL-50R flashes - secure and not wobbly.

The results are as expected - if you haven't used a flash diffuser before, you will like it a lot and will probably never use straight flash again. I also own the Puffer - an excellent diffuser for pop-up flashes, so this kit helps out with the larger flashes, either on-camera or mounted on a tripod.

Love Light Sphere July 2 2009

My friend Spark who is a professional photog had the Gary Gong II kit so I shot on my Canon 40D with it and LOVED the result. Full lighting but soft and diffused using the cloud filter. Everyone wants full lighting without the burn right? Eyes and face were soft. I don't know how much I have use for anything besides the "cloud" filter because I primarily use it for all shoots but just in case I have the full set should the need arise. When you get the kit you'll want to watch the dvd on using the kit. I love how Gary is so laid back in the presentation. He filmed it at The Ritz Carlton and is just a normal guy in a T shirt talking about his $159.99 kit. Very informative and personal. Get the Gary Fong CLOUD filter if nothing else. Happy Shooting!!

effective, but with flaws and overpriced Dec 3 2010

not arguing the effectiveness of the GF Lightsphere in general -- having used an older model before, I found it to be a fantastic diffuser. Though i'm disappointed in the build quality of the *universal* lightsphere included with this kit.

It can be arduous & time-consuming to install and doesn't quite sit flush on my 580 EX II. The lip of the bottom of the diffuser overlaps with a small portion of flash glass(i'll try to include a picture in the future.). I can't tell you what kind of impact this has on the output of the flash (probably little if any), but it's not a sign of quality engineering IMO. For this price tag, and the fact that Gary is a Canon shooter himself (at least, in his videos), I expected better.

There was also no included DVD/CD included, and the little cheat sheet left a little to be desired.

I'm debating on whether I should return this. If I do, I'll probably purchase an individual lightsphere (maybe the collapsible version) and dome and add to it over time.

Works March 9 2010

1. AMAZON: Delivery was prompt...
2. FUNCTION: Fong's lightshpere seems to work fairly well, as shown in his youtube vids.
3. VALUE: is it worth the $100+, ehhh that's up to you... there are some other cheaper options that i've heard work just as well.
4. KNOCK: i have a canon 580ex flash and it doesn't seem to mate with the lightsphere's as nicely as i thought it would. don't get me wrong the Fong-diffusers due come with velcro straps that will secure it but if you don't strap it down it can fall off easily.

This is nice to have, but way over priced. I wouldn't buy it again and really haven't used it much.
