5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite of 6 Gatecrashers I own, Jun 20 2003

(REAL NAME)
I'd have to say this is my favorite of all six Gatecrasher titles I own. When people tell me they like dance but they never know what to buy, I loan them this and they always want more. Christopher Lawrence (any of them) is another excellent DJ. His out of print stuff, as well as rare Gatecrasher can be found through the amazon.com used sellers...

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally - some decent trance., Oct 2 2002
By
Tony R. (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
First off, let me say that whoever submitted reviews about a 3 disc set is on the wrong page. Gatecrasher Experience is the 3 disc cd (the 3rd being a chillout cd). Digital Trance is a 2 disc set.

And quite a set it is. I've only had a few days with the album, but I can echo several other reviewers in that finally Gatecrasher has returned to what they became famous for: melodic trance. All that progressive stuff of the last few cds is gone. Something I'm quite happy about. A little of it finds its way into the first cd, but there are still quite a few room-filling tracks that'll please.

The second cd gets even more melodic and has more builds and crashes. More so, dare I say, than any Gatecrasher cd from the past. I didn't give the album 5 stars only because I think (and I'm sure several of you will gasp when I say this) that the trance well is beginning to run dry. The music is great on this cd, but it's not anything we haven't heard before. Different compostions, different chords - but more of the same. That said, trance is not over by any means. And this cd is one of the great ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best trance in a while, May 20 2002
It seems with this nationwide movement towards Progressive techno and hard house, the trance genre has been abandoned for a while. Not anymore. While Disc 1 is a good uptempo progressive delicacy, Disc 2 is a wonderful, self-serving re-introduction to the world of trance. Regardless of those who will try to devalue the art of trance, those of us who like it need not make any excuses. This is great music, covering a true range of talents. You like soft voices? It's here. You like driving beats? It's here. You like smooth synth with head crushing breaks? It's here.
