General. . . is a confusing hodgepodge of fantasy, history, and biblical incidents, with little distinction made between them. It is carelessly structured, with some inaccurate page directions. Dog Food. . . wavers between science fiction and Sunday-School tract missionary lessons. The story lines are more coherent than in General . . . , but the book is also more didactic. Both books have grotesque cartoon illustrations. A disservice to both participation stories and to Christian fiction.
