1.0 out of 5 stars It's pretty boring Mar 12 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
Unless your really into his personal life and are wanting to see a drama then I don't recommend this movie. I was hoping to watch more battle scenes and hear about his conquest. Instead it's basically just fixated on his childhood, his relationship with his wife and a bunch of bizarre plots related to honour. No action really in this film.. just a bunch of drawn out drama.

4.0 out of 5 stars good historical film, needs extras Jun 28 2009
By Cheryl TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
This is an excellent film, but restricted in story, to Genghis Khan's rise in power. There are certain biographical facts which make the entirety of his early years important, but I'm not sure about the accuracy on many of the details. (There is another excellent film (Mongol) with the same subject matter, and very different story lines.) This film is gorgeous, and well-crafted, but maybe a bit too sympathetic to the character. Personally, I was only disappointed by the dvd's lack of extras. (It could have used a biography, making of, or even notes.)

2.0 out of 5 stars Accurate but awful July 5 2010
Format:Blu-ray
Simply said, poor battle, poor effects, extremely poor acting especially on the main cast. The only thing that this movie has going is historical accuracy. Read a book or watch Mongol, its a better movie, this movie is fit for the discovery channel.
