Product Description

The Medieval village of Markesew was beset by a dragon, so when St. George the Dragonslayer—i.e., George Arlington—arrived from modern times in his silver pants and lace-up boots, his quest was clear. Being a professional wrestler didn’t qualify him for the task, but a sword and imagination were all he needed. Or so he thought until he discovered the true threat of Devil’s Mount.

Twelve years before, Alizon had been sent to die. Too tough for dragon teeth, she’d never surrender to some foreigner in shiny hose. She feared first for the secret world she’d built herself, but, as the hero approached, Alizon realized it was not the dragon’s armor that was most at risk but the scales around her own ferocious heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Packs both a humorous and emotional punch..., Nov 26 2003
I rarely pick up a book on the basis of a back cover blurb, but this one got me. My husband and two sons are wrestling fans (ick <g>), and I had to see what a romance author did with a wrestling hero. Well, she did just fine!

From beginning to end GEORGE AND THE VIRGIN is both humorous and emotional on the part of both the hero and heroine. The "virgins" are a welcome addition to this enchanting tale, as is the dragon. The author was even able to make me sympathize with the darned over-grown lizard!

I love time travel/fantasy romance and this book fits the bill perfectly. I highly recommend this as a fast-paced, funny, heartwarming, and charming tale about two insecure people who work through their insecurities side by side.

Lisa Cach is a welcome addition to the world of sub-genre romance fiction, and I'll be looking for her other books!

4.0 out of 5 stars A romantic comedy that is actually funny!!, Dec 6 2002
I was (and probably still am) pretty much burned out on romantic comedies when I picked up this book for my local romance readers group. Though it sounded funny and the reviews were positive I figured I'd end up disappointed by the end. Boy, was I wrong!

George & The Virgin is a time travel/fantasy that begins somewhere in the Middle Ages (the period remains sketchy) in a small village filled with superstitious weaklings who sacrifice one of their virgin daughters to the local dragon once each year (because they're apparently too pathetic and spineless to face him down themselves). As the story begins Alizon (a 14 yr old virgin) is desperately trying to rid herself of her virginity with a loathsome and clueless boy in order to avoid becoming the dragon's next dinner. The scene is quite bawdy and funny and shows that Alizon is strong willed and very mouthy.

George, the hero of the story, lives in modern times. He's a professional wrestler for a foundation similar to the WWE (or whatever they're calling themselves these days) and is sent back to Alizon's time by his new age sister. George has always fantasized about slaying a dragon and now his dreams are coming true. Unfortunately, poor George isn't quite up to task and faces quite a few mishaps during his adventure.

I turned the pages eagerly but must admit that midway the author began to lose me a bit and the story seemed to drag (too much padding, maybe?). Still, I give this one a high recommendation. George was a great guy possessing lots of heart, self-doubt and he even had a conscience! Alizon was a bit on the prickly side but she had plenty of reasons. I can easily recommend this to someone looking for a break from the same-old plotlines filling the bookshelves. It's over-the-top fun and sexy too. What more do you need on a boring snowy night?

3.0 out of 5 stars Great book to get lost in!, Sep 1 2002

(REAL NAME)
I really enjoyed this book from page one. It is very funny and had me laughing so hard I cried! The opening scene is priceless. Lisa Cach's books are always a joy to read.

This is a time-travel romance where the Hero is a modern day pro wrestler who is sent back in time to defeat a dragon. He thinks that this is just a dream but soon realizes that its all too real. He really discovers this when the dragon tries to make him lunch! Along with trying to kill the dragon he must fight the fears of the heroine, the virgin, Alizon.

Alizon was sent to the dragon 12 years before. She somehow survives and now provides a haven for the virgins that have followed her to their "deaths". She has hidden the girls away and even though she hates and fears the dragon she has come to depend on him to keep her and the girls safe. When George shows up to kill the dragon she doesn't know what to do. She is strongly attracted to him but fears the unknown. She must battle her emotions and fears before she can become a full woman in his arms.

I would like to read future books with some of the other girls as leading characters, hint, hint! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a lite fun read that will really let you escape for a few hours.
