Book Description

George is heartbroken when his friend Annie tells him that she's moving to the United States. Her father, Eric, has gotten a job searching for signs of life in the universe. Before they go, Eric gives George a gift: The User's Guide to the Universe, with all the information George could ever need for a cosmic journey. And George is going to need it. When Annie believes that she's being contacted by aliens with an urgent message, George joins her in the United States. Before long, George, Annie, Cosmos (Eric and Annie's super-intelligent computer), and Annie's irritating cousin Emmett are off on a cosmic treasure hunt through outer space to save the Earth. This second science-filled adventure includes essays written by leading scientists about the universe and space travel, culminating with Professor Hawking's essay "How to Travel Across the Universe Using Just Your Mind." The book is packed with illustrations, diagrams, and full-color photos of outer space. Lucy Hawking is a coauthor of George's Secret Key to the Universe and the author of two adult novels. 5.0 out of 5 stars A kid's review for kids, Sep 16 2009
By Still Learning - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: George's Cosmic Treasure Hunt (Hardcover)
George's Cosmic Treasure Hunt is a mystery/adventure type of book. I like it because it creates lots of suspense, and that makes you want to read more and more. It's like it hypnotizes you, but in a good way. I like everything in the book - although I wish they met a real alien. That would be cool. If you liked the first book in this series, George's Secret Key to the Universe, you'll LOVE this one!! I really hope the Hawkings write more in the series!

Excellent book. My nine year-old son ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. And he is notorious for losing interest in a story. I wish there were more like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely engrossing for my 9 year old, Jun 9 2009
By C. Finkelstein - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: George's Cosmic Treasure Hunt (Hardcover)
We have a hard time getting our 9 year old to read anything but comics or other illustrated stories. But he loved "George's Secret Key to the Universe", though mostly we read it to him.

He's reading "Cosmic Treasure Hunt" all on his own, and really can't put it down. Since I'm not reading it to him this time I can't tell you much about it, but 5 stars from my young reader.
