The raunchy rock sound of Jet's first single "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" attracted me to pick up 'Get Born' and although the country-tinged, bland ballads were, for the most part, a disappointment, I was pleased with the fun, loud, classic rock-inspired tracks which made me want to drink a few beers at a frat party and dance all night. Although the timing of this album was bad (with many other sound-alike acts coming out of the woodworks at the release of the album, Australia's newest 'thunder' couldn't quite compete with bands like American indie rockers The White Stripes) the album is a whole lot of fun. Will Jet be remembered for lyrical content, seriousness and artistry? Sadly, probably not. But the album's wild sensability and old school rock sound are worth the price of admission. Fans of 'Back in Black' era AC/DC, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The White Stripes and The Hives will dig Jet's signature sound.
