This book has so many sticky notes and paper clips marking pages on it, it barely fits on my shelf now! I became a fan of Frankie's on BT, for his gardening segments. His tips on TV were always smart, relevant, and something new - you could tell he was a gardener and loves it - he didn't just lend his face and name to this book.

So, got this book to help me become a better gardener. I'm three years in. Flowers the first two years, flowers and veggies this year at the cottage. Instead of fumbling through, I wanted to research, find resources, and combine that with the coaching I've received from the resident gardeners in my family - my grandparents and my mom.

Just like a cookbook, I hate gardening books without full colour pictures. This one is full of colour pictures and since I'm visual, this helps me to see what is being written about.

Things I love -
- The index in the back by flower that lists the latin name and sun/shade location
- Its set-up seasonally, so you can read it piece by piece
- The tips sprinkled throughout in cute little garden marker graphics
- Great perennials and annuals section - so often at the nursery, the little tags tell you shade or sun, but there's no description of what plants like what, why, where to put it, does it like neighbors, etc - the section in this book goes into detail on that in paragraph form and also in a chart, which is really helpful. Because I hate spending money at the nursery on a plant that's so beautiful on the little tag, says sun, and I put it close to neighboring plants and it dies as it likes to be alone!

Overall, I really like it. Frankie did a great job in this easy-to-read, informative, detailed book (without too much detail) that I'll continue to use this year and beyond. Thanks for helping my garden grow!!!

Finally, a book truly dedicated to Canadian gardening -- the photos are very well done and actually show the diseases and pests we get here in the Toronto area (even the spider pic is one I see in my garden every year!).

There are a lot of useful tips and I especially like the diagrams on how to prune trees. This book will get a lot of use as I'm a newbie gardener and given the price of food in the coming months I'll definitely be planting a garden and will need help on just about every aspect of creating one.

Highly recommend this book!

There is nothing I would have wanted to know prior to buying this book. We watch Frank on Breakfast Television and on City Line and that is actually what prompted me to buy the book in the first place.
I've actually purchased two of these books. One for myself and the other as a gift to my daughter-in-law. We love it. It's a great source of information that's easy to understand. Simple things to do before your start plantng helter skelter. I'll recommend it to anyone who is interested in gardening. And it does make a great gift.

The book is a beginners guide with useful tips and information. I have read it from cover to cover and have enjoyed every minute of it! The book is divided into growing seasons which is very useful as it tells you what you need to be doing and when. For example, when fertilizing the lawn the different numbers of the formulas and when you need to increase one and decrease the other was very useful. I would recommend this book for novice gardeners an informative and fun read.

loved the book - read it cover to cover and will buy it as a Christmas present for somebody that is just starting out a new lawn, garden etc. It's funny, entertaining and a wealth of knowledge, simple to understand. Worth picking up if you are a seasoned gardener or a new one. Well done Frankie Flowers.

I checked this book out from the local library, and within the week I had ordered my own copy. This is a comprehensive book for gardeners -- it's now my go-to book. It's a must buy!
