Book Description

April 1 2003

There are many books directed at those who are retired or about to retire, and most of them focus on financial matters, food and nutrition, or the best place to settle down. Most fitness books are written for the serious fitness enthusiast, not your average Canadian annuitant.

This is a book with a different goal. Get Up and Go motivates those 50 and over to become more physically fit and mentally active. Why? So they can live longer, stay healthy, feel good, and enjoy life. And best of all, the authors are speaking from first-hand experience: if it's in the book, it's a reflection of their own personal lifestyle.

Whether the reader's main interest is fitness, genealogy, volunteering, crafts, the computer, or the learning journey, every chapter is packed with reliable information and interesting tips to help make the most of life.

About the Author

Jim was born and raised in southern Saskatchewan. After a four-year stint in the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, he began a thirty-five year career with Imperial Oil. Shortly after retirement, one cigarette too many led to open heart surgery. The successful outcome of that ordeal triggered renewed enthusiasm and a lifestyle change that makes this the best time of his life.

Olga was born in Italy. At age twenty, she worked as Chef for Lord Charles Cavendish Bentick near Nottingham, England. Olga spent twenty-three years in the sales department of Ford Motor Company at their head office in Oakville. With her natural energy and love for painting, cooking, and the great outdoors, Olga is the perfect role model for anyone seeking a more active lifestyle.

4.0 out of 5 stars How to really thrive in your later years Sep 10 2003
Format:Paperback
I have seen many books that explain nutrition and finances for over 50's, but this book actually shows you how to thrive and enjoy your life. If you've retired or you are waiting for retirement (I am), everyone can get the most fun from this book about really living life after 50. Well done.
