Ya Ya 's Anniversary CD Falls Short,
By
This review is from: Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! - The Rolling Stones in Concert 40th Anniversary (Deluxe 3CD + DVD Box Set) (Audio CD)
1.Remasterered original CD A+2.Additional Tracks C- 3.Ike & Tina Turner/BB King D 4."Bonus" DVD D 5.Booklet D Customers looking at this 40th Anniversary Edition may be disappointed after they pay the $52.99 ($31 more than the still available original "basic" CD)and experience this CD with bonus DVD. The Stones' additional tracks do not add anything to the concert(one assumes the best and most exiting tracks appeared on the original album/CD). The Ike & Tina performances seem like just something to put in the box of this "boxed set".Underwhelming. The footage on the DVD is the most disappointing aspect of this anniversary collection.Given the wealth of possibilities a couple of sit down acoustic numbers by Jagger/Richards,Richards in the studio,a photo shoot and the introduction, add up to a bunch of wasted space.Only "Satisfaction" comes close to delivering the excitement of a Stones'concert performance.

Well Since I'm a huge Stones fan & have loved Get yer ya ya's out since I was a kid, I just had to order this 40th aniversary box set of what I believe is the best historical rock concert album of all time. At first opening it up, I like the pakaging, & was impressed with the hard cover booklet that has some cool pictures & info in it. As for the discs... Honestly I think Abko could have put it on to 2 discs... I'm not exactly dissapointed but honestly.. the unreleased tracks should have been added to the original disc as bonus tracks and the opening acts disc has it moments but is not really a must have for me. I like the dvd content, but really wish there was more.... I realize there is probably limited footage of the get yer ya ya's out concert(s) but surely there was more than whats on there.. If there would have been at least 2 more tracks from the concert (preferrably songs that were on the original Album), I would have been completely satisfied with the dvd. The Stones really rocked hard & heavy back then.. great stuff. So over all, ya a cool package & some cool old footage of the stones back in the day but I think there should have been more to it for the price.

Combination of Greed and Great Music,

If you are looking for a great holiday gift for a Stones fan or someone looking for a rare brillant performance from BB King then this is for you. The box is well packaged. The remaster of the live stones album is well done. I agree that both BB King and the Turner's could have had more focus perhaps a CD for each. The additional stones tracks are a nice bonus but all in all worth the price? Depends on whether you are a true fan or not. Overall another repackage to boost sales.
