Product Description

Ghost Reveries is bound to stand shoulder to shoulder with bands like The Mars Volta, System Of A Down and Queens Of The Stone Age. The band continues to push the boundaries of extreme music through incorporating acoustic interludes and soothing vocals with hammering rhythms, abrasive guitars and a primal guttural roar. Roadrunner. 2005.

Once again, Opeth has done it. The music is complex, conjuring dark, gloomy atmospheres. The acoustic sections are priceless. Mikael is a genius and I do not use that word lightly. Mikael has the ability to growl, but has a real, honest to God melodic voice; not the stereotypical alarm-clock vocals. Martin Lopez's drumming is still amazes me. It's very tight and dominant. Thank God he's no longer in Amon Amarth... It's nice to see Per Wiberg in the band now. He definately adds a new demension to Opeth's sound.
I was frightened that Opeth, now on a major label, would lose its musical integrity. I hope Roadrunner/Universal realize they have a gem here and to concentrate on the music; not the "almighty" dollar.
Opeth is a leader, not a follower. Support metal and buy all their albums. "Morningrise" and "Still Life" rule!
Regards!

Just an amazing album by an amazing band. Par has added an element to the band that is very interesting. I love the lyrics, and there's definitely some kind of story to this album, I would like to know more about it. The musicianship is bewildering and the vocals by Mikael are ferociously monstrous, with everything you would expect from an Opeth album. To know that 2 years ago I couldn't stand this band and death metal vocals, but now I own 6 of their albums, and Opeth are one of my top 5 favorite bands. Awesome job by the men from Sweden.

Opeth - Ghost Reveries -- Vinyl

Fantastic album, this review is more or less directed to the insane price people are asking for the LP, $653 dollars? What?

Amazon, any chance you can get a normal priced copy of this album?

There's only one thing i never liked about Opeth (and all death metal for that matter) and its that demon-like voice that the singer uses in the heavy parts...i hate it cuz u dont understand what he says...and the lyrics are greatness...they find the art in sadness...and the guitars on this are amazing...drums are just the same everywhere :P...double bass kicks all the time...awesomeness...peace
