Loved the thrill of this movie! I must of watched it at least 4 times and would not hesitate to watch it again. Extraordinary cast and great storyline... but not for the whole family.

This movie is about a crew that searches for old boats, they try to fix them and see if there is any loot on board.
One night they are in a bar and a guy comes to the crew with a propsal about a huge "ghost ship" that he has seen in the ocean. The crew agrees to his deal and they set sail. Little do they know that when they board this ship the are boarding a haunted nightmare.
They ending is a shocker, so in a way it is kind of like a mystery/thriller.

If you saw Deep Rising, 13 Ghosts, or House on Haunted Hill and liked them, you'll love this movie. Intended as a Halloween bit of fun, this film, inspite of nearly comical flaws, works! Comical flaws? You get to see the same clip of the character Grier saying "Where you going? twice. In the cabin of one of the ghost a hat changes position 3 times, twice in the same scene.
More fun is the opening number Senza Fine which, judging by the posing of the busty singer, must be Italian for "Get a Load of These" (you'll get that when you watch it)
Some obvious problems with the film include:"Dodge" enunciates like a community theater judge, "Munder" is accent is alterantely British and American, and "Murphy" went on about how he'd been at sea a long time, how the sea does strange things, how the sea gives you an opportunity, blah blah blah.
Didn't I say I liked this film? Yes I did. All of these things
add to the charm.
If nothing else, you have to see the opening mass bisection. It is stand alone in both its horrific nature and dark humor. Half the team that put Army of Darkness together worked on it. Very little CGI, mostly cunning camera work and rubber corpses. Excellent!!!

This film has a very creepy cover, and I've wanted to see it for a while. It's done by the same producers who did House On Haunted Hill (seen), and Thirteen Ghosts (next up to see!) I enjoyed House On Haunted Hill, and I ended up enjoying this!
It starts off very much like a cheap and tacky soap opera, judging by the severely dodgy music and even dodgier curly and PINK font on the credits! I was quite shocked at this, as this isn't your stereotypical way to display all the lovely people who were involved in a movie. And definitely not in PINK!
Starting off in 1962, we're soon transported forward in time to the present day, a tried and tested trick in films these days. We're introduced to Gabriel Byrne, the appropriately named "Murphy" - even though it makes me think of Jack Nicholson's character in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.
Full of scary ghosts, and a bratty little girl, who keeps appearing alive and scaring Julianna Margulies shipless. Either I didn't get it, or it never really explains why all the other characters on the ship are dead, and she appears seemingly alive, although she is a ghost. I probably didn't get it, knowing me.
A lot of scenes featuring the ghost ship and other certain parts seem stolen from another great film about a ship - Titanic of course. One particular scene at the end, where Julianna Margulies is lying on a piece of wreckage, is very similar to Kate Winslet lying on a piece of wreckage! The whole storyline made little bells start ringing, as it's the story of the Marie Celeste (the ship which disappeared and then reappeared, with no crew or passengers on it), just extended. Murphy even mentions the Marie Celeste during the movie.
The finale is just simply unsatisfying.

Yo, yo, yo, chill. This movie is tight...aight. The first four minutes are amoung the best in any movie. The opening scene is lovely (as that hot spanish singer sings an early 1960s edition of Balimos...going to live this life for ever Bailmois dounda ecios aribas Bailmosis) but then when the gold hungrey chiefs what gold everyone gets killed or do they? Well that is where ERs Julian Margilis comes in. I normally don't like doctors with the exception of Doctor Chandler (ready room three..ready room three)but Julianna plays the part perfectly as we see the terror and pair in her eyes.
Another great thing about this moovie is that its' an original plot. I mean has anyone ever seen a movie about a ghost ship i really don;t think so word life.
But if you watch for only one thing in this movie watch for well the nude scene with that sexy singer and the black guy that looks like malcom maxey, but if you watch for two things then watch for the nude scene and the end of the movie where they play that butt-pumping music while doctor maragleis is in the ambuklance.
In conclusion, This is difinately a movie you'll want to add to you collection it really has everything you'd want with the exception of Ben Affleck (love you Geza man) If you have the money buy this movie if you don;t have the money try to cut down on the fast foods and then you'll be able to buy this DVD oh heck ya. Go Cubs and gatorade water.
