Fans of Music or Ray of Light who were not Madonna fans from back in the day may find the latter half of the album less easy going as it does not possess the quirkiness of her later material nor the cheesy but highly accessible quality of older tunes as featured on the first Greatest Hits, The Immaculate Collection. This cd is a great introduction into the last decades' worth of music from the most famous woman in the record industry. Sure it has sloppy edits and the running order makes no sense, but everyone has their own version of Madonna's greatest hits. Madonna is more than a singer. She actually writes and produces her own music, unlike other big names in the music industry. She has truly earned her title as the Queen of Pop through hard work. It is all reflective in the songs represented her, and why this diva has staying power. True, it is missing some hits and singles released, but so did The Immaculate Collection(remember true blue, who's that girl?, dress you up, etc.), and nobody ever complains about that album. Madonna could easily milk her fans with a double disc replacement of both her greatest hits, but instead has offered us a sampler of her favourites. I mean, they're her damn songs, let her choose them as she wants. So hats off, and let's hope we get to see a GHV3.

I am a hard core Madonna fans since the 80's. This is a great second compilation. I recommend you get also the immaculate collection to have a complete best of collection of Madonna. This CD also has the song beautiful stranger form the Austin Powers soundtrack.

I have to admit that GHV2 does have some excellent songs on it. I guess it should, since it is a greatest hits collection. However, I can't give this one 5 stars, because it just doesn't stack up compared to "The Immaculate Collection". Maybe I just prefer her older songs over the newer ones, but I think there is more to it than that. What I don't like about this collection has to do with the song selection. Don't get me wrong - most of them are awesome. However, I'm not sure why "Drowned World/Substitute For Love", "What It Feels Like For A Girl", and "Bedtime Story" made the cut, whereas "Rain", "This Used To Be My Playground", and "I'll Remember" did not.What I do like is that it includes "Deeper And Deeper", "Take A Bow", "The Power Of Good-bye", "Frozen", "Ray Of Light", and "Don't Tell Me", all of which are my favourites from the period covered by this collection. The bottom line is that this is a great collection, but a couple of songs that should be here are noticeably absent.
