We keep this book on our coffee table throughout the month of December. The writing is solid Biblical theology in a lyrical style that draws you into the story, and the illustrations are gorgeous! It is a beautiful book that adds to our Christmas decorations and festivity, and it has a wonderful message that invites questions from visitors to our home who might not be familiar with the Christmas story.

I hate to rate this book this way because it's not the book itself that is the problem. It's just that it was a total waste of money for the reason I bought it. It was on a list of books to read to children during an advent program I found online. This book is NOT A CHILDREN'S BOOK. It is an in depth look into the birth of Christ, taking scripture and expounding upon it. It was way too long and in depth for the children, especially since it's all supposed to be read in one sitting according to the advent plan. Otherwise it is a beautiful book that I hope to read fully one day.
