About the Author
Laurie Carter is the author of two travel books: Grandma Wears Hiking Boots: A personal guide to the Okanagan Valley and Gifts of the Okanagan, a coffee table photo essay produced in collaboration with her husband Bruce Kemp. Laurie's stories and photographs reflect an interest in everything from architecture to winemakers, from hiking to folk singers, from ancient ruins to street vendors. Her award-winning freelance work appears in magazines and newspapers internationally. She serves as senior editor of Okanagan Life magazine and has contributed extensively to HelloBC.com, official website of Tourism BC. Laurie lives in West Kelowna, BC.
Bruce Kemp is an award-winning writer/photographer whose work has appeared in several one-man shows. He is the co-author of the travel photo book Gifts of the Okanagan, produced with his wife Laurie Carter. Bruce goes to great depths to get his pictures as an underwater photographer and has climbed more than one mountain while studying photography at the Banff Centre for the Arts. His stock files, developed on assignment, now provide images to magazines, newspapers and book publishers in Canada and the United States. His freelance writing appears in newspapers and magazines around the world. Bruce lives in West Kelowna, BC.
