This review is from: Girls In Love: A Summer Girls Novel (Paperback)
It's summer again, and the girls are back in Maine taking the beach by storm. Greer, Jessica, and Lara each have a goal for the summer.Greer hooks up with a boy on the first night at a party, but she knows that he's a player. She walks away from him, but he keeps popping up - and not just in her thoughts. Will she attempt something more with him? Jessica wants to become closer to her boyfriend from last summer. They're talking about taking the next step. Only he's turning down her offers and spending time with another girl. Could it be trouble in paradise? Lara spent last summer hooking up with her step-cousin. She hasn't talked with him in a month and is shocked to discover he's not in Maine this year. Lara supposes it's his way of telling her he wants to break up. She mopes around a bit before another guy catches her eye. Suddenly, halfway through the summer, Drew is back - and wants to pick up where they left off. GIRLS IN LOVE picks up a year after SUMMER GIRLS as the three girls spend their summer flirting with boys and worshiping the sun. They're happy to be back together chatting about fashion, family, and boys. I adore Hailey Abbott, and her books are the perfect summer read, either on the beach or just to get you in the mood for summer. They're romantic, adorable, and full of close friendships. Beach fun,
By Tina "Tina" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Girls In Love: A Summer Girls Novel (Paperback)
I have actually read a few of Abbott's books and I am not sure why I don't make a point of following all of her books - especially since anytime I do end up reading one, I thoroughly enjoy it.Granted, Girls in Love is NOT high literature - rather, it is the perfect beach read. I opened this book feeling a little blah and ended up finishing it with a big smile on my face. YA is always fun to read - especially since YA always seem so incredibly melodramatic - which, of course, immediately brings me back to my own "drama" days and Girls in Love is no different. This book is actually a sequel, but you don't have to worry as you can pretty well pick it up without having read the previous ones. Jessica, one of my favorite characters is the one that I identified the most with - with a relationship with Connor and lots of doubts - courtesy of Lily. Lara who thinks she has been dumped and is doing the "in between" dance and of course Greer who appears to have it all figured out. All of the characters bring their own brand of humor and personality to the storyline to make it a fun read. This book is breezy, funny, cute and entertaining. Perfect.

Queen of Summer Romance!,
By Felicia - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Girls In Love: A Summer Girls Novel (Paperback)
Taken from my blog:New York Times bestselling author, Hailey Abbott, is the Queen of the teenage romance beach read. Sequel to Summer Girls, Girls in Love follows three Tuttle cousins--the Summer Girls of Pebble Beach. Jessica, the sweet one with the huge heart, is set on spending the entire summer with her semi-new boyfriend, Connor. She wants to move their relationship to the next level, but why is Lily Fitzgerald writing flirty comments all over his Facebook wall? Lara, the newest cousin, is trying to forget about her ex-boyfriend, Drew. He hasn't called in over three weeks, so does that mean they are dunzo? Marco, a Summer Boy, looks more delectable to Lara each and every day. And finally, there's Greer--the dramatic one. She can spot a player when she sees one, and Hunter fits the bill. So why can't she stop kissing him? This book is such an enjoyable read and I loved each character to pieces. Both books in the series are fantastic, and this one does not disappoint. The drama, the boys, and the sand all make for one hot summer. |
