3.0 out of 5 stars Try A Different Nutrition Guide, Dec 7 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: At-a-Glance Nutrition Counter (Mass Market Paperback)
This book's usefulness suffers because it does not contain information on many basic food items, and it needs updating to account for modern eating trends. For example, if you want nutritional information on a chicken breast or lima beans, you will not find it in this book. The organization within major categories is illogical, and there is no index, making it dificult to use. Some of the figures are clearly accurate, for example regular beer listed at 150 calories. The book spends way too much space on specific brand name products, many of which are not on supermarket shelves anymore. On the positive side, the book's serving sizes are very realistic and it contains almost of the information contained on USDA labels -- some books only provide calories, and fat and protein grams.
