These are not your grandmother's scrap quilts., Jan 8 1998

This review is from: Glorious Patchwork: More Than 25 Glorious Quilt Designs (Hardcover)
While to some this might appear to be a basic how to quilting book, in reality it is a primer on the application of a sophisticated palette to the scrap quilt. Kaffe Fassett is well known for his exuberant use of color, it is that excitement which makes this book so valuable for both advanced and beginning quilters.

Great for the beginning quilter but..., Oct 29 1997

a major disappointment to me, and I'm an intermediate quilter. I so looked forward to this book as I've worked with Fassett's needlepoint book extensively and used his knitting book for design inspiration many times. I hoped for unique patterns, unique color combinations, and found precious few (2, and vaguely) that met any of those criteria. As an interior design book, it's great for ideas; as a quilt book, despite Amazon's great $18 pricetag, it's not worth keeping unless you're looking for a book of basic patterns or a great gift for a beginning quilter.

I loved this book so much I bought it twice., Oct 30 2010
I'm a big Kaffe Fassett fan, and have a number of his books. After buying this one and reading it TWICE, I discovered that I'd already bought it several years ago and stashed it in my bookshelf. My quilt guild library is now the beneficiary of my memory lapse. Unlike the quilt patterns in later books by Kaffe Fassett, these ones don't rely entirely on using the Westminster fabrics he designs, so you're much more likely to be inspired to use your stash. Kaffe's outstanding colour sense is showcased to perfection, and most of the patterns are not too complex.
