I love the Gluten-Free Girl's blog & her recipes are always fantastic but this book was awful. The (few) recipes in this book are great, but the majority of the book is a ridiculously saccharine account of the author meeting her husband. Glad I got this from the library & did not buy it.

I suppose that a writer is a writer and a blogger is well, not a writer (n this case at least) This book has some really great recipes but the love story is just too much. I found the writing to be over the top and the lovey-dovey stuff just made me uncomfortable. Here is an example: ..." I gasped. Not just because he was singing so out of tune (...) but because he was signing one of John Lennon's most obscure songs, a love song I had always loved, but no one else ever knew. I leaned in for a kiss, but he put his finger, dipped in white truffle honey, into my mouth instead. We had to buy the jar, of course." Their love story is nice, but I am really only interested in the recipes thanks. I've got my own honey dipped love story to swoon over. I hope that Shauna and Daniel do in fact release a recipe book of just recipes, tips and tricks. The ones in this book are great and I would like to see more.

All in all, this is something I would rather have borrowed from the Library than actually purchased.

I found that there was just too much personal information about them. I would have liked to see more recipes instead of a love story - pages and pages of love story.

A diagnoses of having a severe gluten intolerance for someone who loves to cook as much as I do felt like a death sentence for ever enjoying another meal. I am forever thankful for Gluten-Free Girl and the Chef for sharing recipes on their website and making many of my favorites edible again. The gift of this book is the icing on the gluten free cake!! If you are living gluten free, this book is invaluable, or if you just like food, this book is a great cookbook.

They make great food. No argument about that. However, the choices picked for this cookbook were just not what someone new to gluten free cooking would be looking for. UNLESS that someone has great experience in the kitchen, is comfortable with different food choices and looking for great culinary choices in the GF world. For my mother who was switching over and needed simple/easy yet delicious? No. Many of the items required are not readily available in our location (northern BC). It also combines their love story intertwined with the recipes. If you don't like romance stories, then perhaps try a different one of their cookbooks.
