5.0 out of 5 stars The one I use the most, Feb 23 2007
By L. Soeder (Kitchener, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book almost five years ago and without a doubt it is the gluten free cookbook that gets the most use in my kitchen. All the recipes are simple and easy to follow and don't require trips to specialty stores for expensive ingredients. Most of the recipes are made from things found in most kitchens and are recipes that are standards, such as pie crust, pizza crust, simple breads, muffins, pancakes, waffles, and that type of basic staple foods. I make the pancakes at least once a week, and no one in my family minds that they are gluten free. (because I do all the cooking everyone eats gluten free; it's safer for my health that way.) My last birthday cake was her chocolate cake, and her boston cream pie fooled a group of food snobs at a recent get-together. I highly recommend this book because Roben Ryberg makes gluten free baking simple, tasty and fuss free. While the others GF cookbooks gather dust, this one is used again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gluten Free Kitchen, Dec 16 2004
By Nancy Wentworth (Massachusetts, USA) - See all my reviews
Thank you, thank you, thank you for producing such a wonderful recipe book for Celiacs that do not use rice flours! I just made the double chocolate cookies tonight for the upcoming holiday and they are super!

I really hope this author produces another recipe book for us Celiacs!! I want to be the first one in line to purchase it! I honestly think this is the best recipe book out there for Celiacs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most dog-eared cookbook in my gluten-free collection!, Aug 2 2003
By A Customer
My non-celiac family literally inhaled the rolls last night at dinner (I baked them in mini-muffin tins to create tiny "pop-overs"). They were light, moist, and tasty.

This book provides a wonderful alternative to grainy rice flour recipes. I've had great success with the biscuits and breads. The trick is to use very fresh ingredients. I use Clabber girl "not genetically modified" corn starch. The one time I used corn starch that'd been in the cupboard for a year, the biscuits were flat and hard.

This is a great resource for those of us with non-celiac families who want to make gluten-free foods that everyone likes to eat (who has time to cook two dinners?!).
