3.0 out of 5 stars This should be three and a half stars... Jan 1 2006
By RICK
Format:DVD
This movie is pretty good, but nothing special. The SFX aren't very well done (i.e. the way Megaguirus' wings fly fast, the garbage cans flying into the air at the beggining,) and the script was average. The story was cool and the flooding of the cities was really neat. I LOVE AT THE START WHEN 2000 GODZILLA GOES INTO THE 1954 SCENE!!! :-)

The Megaguirus suit looks nothing like it does in the Japanese poster; if it had I'd have given it five stars! The Godzilla suit looked pretty cool too.

I have to agree with one review that if you want some real G entertainment see Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster. Great!

All in all, this show gets three and a half stars. OK.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, Not the Worst Mar 18 2005

This is OK. If your looking for a GOOD way to spend your cash on a Godzilla movie, buy GODZILLA vs THE SEA MONSTER.

The Good: Lots of explosions and smashed and bashed buildings, an awesome Godzilla suit, and Megaguirus' look was good too. (Not as good as it looks in the Japanese poster!) Let's see... I LOVED it when the 2000 Big G suit was put in '54 scene!!!!!!!!

The Bad: Too much plot development, less miltary scenes and stuff with that general. (YEESH!) Absolute corn (not the good kind!) when Godzilla was shaking his head and Megaguirus was flapping his wings. ): Horrible... even compared to Sesame Street!

If your a die hard fan, get it. If your just being introduced to Godzilla, pass this one by and buy GODZILLA VS. THE SEA MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (:

2.0 out of 5 stars Feeble Godzilla Film Aug 17 2004
Format:DVD
"Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" is to me the worst of the 'millennium' Godzilla series so far. The special effects are terrific for the series, but everything else (the human story, the characters, the dialogue, the silly plot) are a massive disappointment. Even Megaguirus, the new monster, isn't particularly memorable. Plus, like nearly all of the 1970s Godzilla movies, a child is a main character (never a good sign in a movie like this). There are good points (especially the opening 'newsreel,' which kicks this movie off on a high note), but overall, this should only be recommended to die-hard Godzilla fans.
The DVD is in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Being a relatively recent movie, it looks nice, with good bright colours and few scratches. Unlike many Godzilla DVDs, both to original Japanese audio and English dubs are included (which should be appreciated by purists). There are no special features besides trailers for a few other Columbia Tristar DVDs, which is a bit of a shame. Production notes, Japanese trailers, or liner notes are all I ask.

2.0 out of 5 stars Despite being recent, a shockingly poor movie.
Though part of the latest (3rd) generation Godzilla series -- the Millenium series that follows Godzilla 2000 -- this movie is amazingly poor. Read more

I'm a long time Godzilla fan. I got this movie having heard mixed reviews, and after watching it I can tell why. The movie was pretty boring for the 40-50 minutes. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Godzilla not at his best....
I love Godzilla movies however, I didn't find Godzilla vs Megaguirus entertaining at all. The whole movie has this "Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla" feel to it. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Godzilla x Megaguiras: Not the best, but still entertaining.
I have to say that Godzilla x Megaguiras is a guilty pleasure of mine. No, it's not as thematically profound as GMK, and this movie is not for everybody's taste. Read more
