Great Canadian classic,
By
This review is from: Goin Down the Road (DVD)
I first watched this movie back in 1973 on cbc and it always stuck in my mind.Fast forward to 1989 finally got to see this great Canadian movie again. This time i recorded it on my vcr and kept it for many years. Now my old vhs tape has seen its better days so i finally got a hold of the dvd release. What can i say about this movie, great characters, made on a shoestring budget, great story about two maritimers going to Toronto to live their dreams of a better life only to find that life in T.O. is not what they expected.Going down the road ranks up there with any Hollywood classic. "Fancy color tv and not a pot to piss in"

A Small World,
By D.Allister MacKay (Edmonton) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Goin Down the Road (DVD)
During the summer of 1970, I was teaching at the U of T. I read a review of this movie and learned that its world premiere was on at the New Yorker on Yonge Street. My wife and I went ot see it and enjoyed it. When we came out, Paul Bradley and a friend of his were at the box office trying to persuade the cashier to let them in free. Paul appealed to me for help and I was happy to confirm that he was one of the stars. Sure enough, He and his friend were admitted. This was hardly a Hollywood-style celebrity! The movie and the DVD are great. My own enjoyment of it was enhanced by the memoies of that hot Toronto summer night of July, 1970.
