Elizabeth Lowell is the best, Jan 6 2012
By Aficionado - Published on Amazon.com
I've read Elizabeth Lowell's books for longer than I care to admit, and whether she's writing suspense, mystery, science fiction, epic sagas or pure romance, her books are always engaging and exciting with characters you can't help but root for. Golden Mountain is no exception.
This book is one of her early ones, and readers should be aware it's not one of her recent romantic suspenses. It's a sweeping historical saga set in turn of the century Seattle. Never fear, though, there's definitely romance. And with Lowell's uncanny ability to create vivid characters with both flaws and strengths, you'll find yourself transported and caring what happens to each one.
I saw that the other reviewer mentions the book seems dated; it's worth noting that that review was posted in 2007 and would have been referring to the original paperback. This ebook edition of Golden Mountain has been revised and updated by the author.

Fascinating characters...you won't be able to put it down, Feb 7 2012
By Cynthia R Monahan - Published on Amazon.com
This is an amazing read - I'm not a diehard 'Saga' fan, so will either love or hate them. This one I couldn't put down, even with two small kids - I don't give up sleep for too many books, but this was worth every lost minute. Every character was compelling - tough, adventurers, who simply wouldn't give up. They each wanted a piece of the American Dream, in their own ways, and I promise you won't predict anyone's ending. But you'll be satisfied with the end of each - both the tragic and the happy. I also loved this fresh view of the Gold Rush days and growing Seattle. Elizabeth Lowell somehow managed to transport you to a world completely foreign, yet sitting right here on our very shores. Great entertainment. I'm on to her next.

Elizabeth Lowell / A.E. Maxwell / Anne Maxwell, Oct 20 2007

This review is from: The Golden Mountain (Paperback)
I purchased this book, as it is one of the earliest publications of the author most commonly known as Elizabeth Lowell.
It was quite dated, and I was unable to even get into it.
I do not recommend anyone but an extreme Lowell/Maxwell fan purchase this book.
