It's been called "the
Ishtar of the '90s," but that's giving this film too much credit. Danny Glover and Joe Pesci (who could have used their
Lethal Weapon series buddy Mel Gibson in here) star as slow-witted friends who take their dream fishing vacation in the Florida Everglades and end up having a series of disasters. Trouble is, director Christopher Cain can't get a handle on any of the comedy essentials for a project such as this. The result is a badly-timed, badly-toned, unfunny movie wasting a lot of great talent across the board.

A funny thing happened on the way to the fishing hole in the hilarious comedy-adventure GONE FISHIN’, which teams two of Hollywood’s most popular stars, Danny Glover (the Lethal Weapon trilogy) and Joe Pesci (Home Alone, Lethal Weapon 2 & 3). Gus (Glover) and Joe (Pesci) are lifelong pals who dream of catching “the big one” on a fishing trip to the Florida Everglades. But they reel in more trouble than they can handle when they cross paths with a con artist who speeds off in their car! Before long, they’re entangled in the biggest adventure of their lives, searching for a hidden heist of jewels and trying to hook up with two gorgeous women along the way. Catch all the laughs as these two dim-witted buddies make a comedic run for their lives in the fishing trip no one will ever forget!
