Product Description

Album Description

Deluxe Edition 4-disc [2CD/2DVD] (NTSC/Region 1) set - As the inaugural musical event at Citi Field, the site of the former Shea Stadium, these July 2009 shows held special significance not only for McCartney but for generations of his fans. The shows were performed on the same hallowed ground that The Beatles, in 1965, played the 34-minute show that would set the precedent for the modern day stadium rock show. This 4-disc set comprises a 33-track 2-CD set with audio, in both stereo and 5.1; a DVD featuring footage directed by Paul Becher, with highlights of the gigs including faithful takes on Beatles classics 'Drive My Car', 'Got To Get You Into My Life', 'The Long And Winding Road', 'Blackbird', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Back In The USSR', 'Paperback Writer', 'Let It Be', 'Hey Jude', 'Helter Skelter' and more, plus 'Something' rendered on ukulele gifted to Paul by George Harrison, and a tribute to John Lennon in the form of a medley of 'A Day In The Life' & 'Give Peace A Chance'. Wings-era chestnuts include 'Band On The Run', 'My Love', 'Let Me Roll It' and the pyrotechnic tour-de-force of 'Live And Let Die', while timeless McCartney solo material ranges from 'Here Today' to the upbeat 'Flaming Pie' and 'Dance Tonight' to a pair of numbers from Electric Arguments, the 2008 album released under the alias of The Fireman; plus a Bonus DVD containing footage of Paul's traffic-stopping, headline-making July 15th performance on the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee, and an audience documentary!).

I saw Paul McCartney live in Glendale Arizona in March , 2010 and he was truly amazing. I bought this DVD and it is great....some of the same songs that I saw live and it brought back memories of those performances. This video has great sound quality and video and is as close to seeing Paul live as you can get. A great purchase and a must have for McCartney fans. I hope they produce a DVD of the Glendale concert as it would be number one on my purchase list. Paul McCartney and his band put on an outstanding show and his selection of songs is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gem is the DVD!!!, Dec 7 2009

The cd's are great but lack the personal touches and audience chats, with the high production of the live show it could just as well be a very good studio recorded greatest hits collection.

The dvd though is 2 hours and 30 minutes of pure Paul with his road band. There are dedications to Linda, George and John, I guess you have to die, because ther was no mention of Ringo. Paul starts the show in the collerless Beatle jacket, but quickly switches to white shirt and suspenders. What also makes this live performance is seeing all the fans reactions, young and old just singing along to their favourite songs.

Buy it for the dvd, put the cd tracks on your mp3 player, but sit back for a memorable concert to open CITI Field on the site of the old Shea Stadium.

Cameo by Billy Joel and "I'm Down" will take you back. Of course "Live and Let Die" is a showstopper.

Excellent concert, sound and quality image. You can listen to it in CD's, wich is included in this package when I have bought it. If you like McCartney with The Beatles or Wings, you will love this package.
