goodnight mister tom was an enjoyable novel and video. it provided an insight into issues which are not as familiar and talked about as they should be. Good Night Mister Tom is a novel which focusues on the stresses and pressures faced by children affected by war, poverty and child abuse.
It deals with 9 year old William who is a victim of child abuse, and is taken in by a man in a country town of britain after his mother is unable to take care of him during the war. Mister tom provides the love and care william deserves by simply treating him as he should be .

I've seen two truly outstanding psychologically oriented video's that realistically depict surviving trauma, and the love and healing needed, to repair it.

The first was "Ordinary People" and now this, "Goodnight Mister Tom" - from the book by the same name. I own the video, hard cover and soft cover versions of the book

Every home and public library should have this video on hand.

It is beautiful. It is healing, and it is necessary. Please see this. You'll be changed by it.

John Thaw (BBC's "Inspector Morse") and the boy give outstanding performances.

The DVD version is available in England and I hope the powers that be, have enough sense to make it available here.

My mom has loved this movie for years, I was so excited to find a copy for her for Christmas. The item arrived damaged, says there is a 'region code error' and will not play on my DVD player. This is my first try at ordering on line not such a happy shopper. Now have to hit the mall to find something else for her.
