“?. don’t let the name fool you. This is food by the much lauded Michelin-starred Jason Atherton and as such you won’t walk away from a three course meal for two with any change from [$200]. That said, for the experience, the cooking, the interior and lighting, the passion of the staff and the quality of the ingredients is worth every penny.” --Mondo magazine

Very Tasty! Best ever venison dish!,
By
This review is from: Gordon Ramsay's Maze (Hardcover)
My reaction upon reading was - "Blah - these recipes look a bit simple - where are the spices?"My reaction upon cooking - "Hmmm, this isn't very difficult but it is going to take a long time! And so much butter!" And the taste - DELICIOUS! I have tried the chicken caesar salad, venison with butternut squash and pickled red cabbage, asparagus with pink grapefruit hollandaise and the celery-apple salad with roquefort dressing. The red wine sauce for the venison was worth buying the book for! I would classify the cookery style as "modernized classics". Butter, shallots and thyme feature in many recipes.

Stunning Book,
By Wilderness "tech & electronics" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Gordon Ramsay's Maze (Hardcover)
Gordon Ramsay's Maze is a book you'll just want to relax and enjoy. The photos in the book will stir up your appetite. Gordon Ramsey keeps his restaurant somewhat simple, but many of the recipees are pretty different and exotic. It makes me want to go straight to his restaurant and just watch and taste to my heart's desire. This book is a must have.If you are a fan of Gordon Ramsay, you need to get this book. Everything sumptuous and simple, but really most I wouldn't dare tackle in my own kitchen.

This review is from: Gordon Ramsay's Maze (Hardcover)
GORDON RAMSAY'S MAZE features recipes by Jason Atherton and dishes from Gordon Ramsay's world-famous Maze restaurant. From this one might surmise it's just a collection of the restaurant's winning dishes - but it's more. They're presented as they'd be served in the restaurant and are followed by additional recipes using the same main ingredients geared to everyday meals. Home cooks will find this a fine collection based on a collection of small dishes as well as traditional two- or three-course meals, and lending libraries will appreciate the color photos throughout.

Superb book - Ignore the negative review, buy it!,

This book is superb. Buy it. I did not buy it originally as the bad review skewed my decision. After I grabbed a copy from the library I have to say that this book is superb and I will shortly buy a copy for my collection. It is a great inspiration and many of the sub recipes are great in their own right. Check out the Orange, Anise and Mango dessert. Awesome, a great sign that the chef has traveled the globe and got some exposure to flavors. I found the Biz Book Girls's comment about pretty pictures a pretty good sign that she was missing the point. |
