I was very reluctant to read this because I figured it would massacre the characters of the TV show (as well as the books). It pretty much did, but the end result was still fun to read and look at. Blair and Vanessa are the main characters, and Serena is relegated to nothing more than scenery. Chuck and Dan are extreeeeme versions of their television selves, and Nate practically doesn't exist. Nonetheless, Blair is still a hilarious manga heroine who remains lovable while acting completely off her rocker, and Chuck makes a wonderful sidekick to her antics. Even the frienemyship that Vanessa and Blair strike up is enjoyable to watch unfold.
The only story line that skeeved me out was Dan's little obsession with Blair, but I think most diehard Blair lovers will appreciate how desirable Blair is in this, haha.

I bought this because I had just read the TRAVESTY that was Gossip Girl, Psycho Killer and I was depressed and missing the old Gossip Girl books.
MAN OH MAN, do I NOT regret my decision.
You will love this book if you can agree with any of the following statements:
1.) You used to sit in the manga aisle at Border's and read the horrible/awesome romance mangas about quirky girls who have all the boys in love with them. (Peach...Ah! My Goddess!...etc etc)
2.) You obsess over Blair Waldorf, think she is flawless, and have several Pinterest boards dedicated to her.
3.) You defend the show, the books, and anything affiliated to GG to the death (well, besides that Psycho Killer mistake..), involving fighting on message boards about how Blair is amazeballs and should end up with Chuck/Dan/Nate.
Basically, the premise of these books are that Blair is this amazing, hot goddess of a girl, and all the boys are in love with her. (Scratch that: all the UES is in love with her.) This is perturbing to Serena, who returns and is confused why no one loves her anymore. Enter lots of wacky manga humor, Dan as a stalkerish nerd, and lots of beautiful imagery and pretty outfits.
Yes, the plot is butchered a little (a lot), but it's actually okay. I promise.

I bought this because I am a fan of the Gossip Girl TV Show on the CW. I don't know if its my inexperience with reading graphic novels but I had a very hard time following this story. It didn't really follow the show (which I wasn't exactly expecting it to, but thought it would be somewhat similar)
I found the story to be boring and unrealistic. I really disliked the way the protrayed the characters in this story. I like how in the TV show the characters are dispicable people who do terrible things to one another, but you still feel sympathy for them and like them. I espically like Blair, but I felt like in this version of the story as in the original novel (the only one of the Gossip Girl Novels I read) Blair always get the raw end of the stick where as Serena who is just as bad as Blair if not worse doesn't ever get anything wrong or have anything blow up in her face.
The drawings however were extremely beautiful and I loved the illustrations. It's really cool to "look" at and if your a fan of Gossip Girl I think you would definitly like this.
